What People Are Saying About Lotta's Bakery
Featured Review

In Short – Serving up old-fashioned baked goods in a pink-themed storefront, this little bakery is hailed most for its cheesecakes, which range in size from four to 11 inches. Other cakes include carrot, chocolate silk, German chocolate and strawberry cream. Smaller items such as fruit bars, brownies, puff pastries, danish and slices of breakfast bread make for quick, take-away treats; whole breakfast loaves (banana, lemon) cost $24. The owner, G. Earl Darny, is a pastry veteran of the now-defunct Stars Restaurant.
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- The bakery also features fresh breads, including a mean Italian focaccia.
- Fun Fact:
- The shop is named for Darny's drag alter-ego.
Luv Luv Luv Lotta's Bakery and Sweet Antiques
by ibbloomn at Citysearch
We live so far north that we are 1hour from Oregon ! We often come to the City ,Go Giants! Our first stop is Lotta's Bakery . Best yummie treats since grandma's kitchen and for country pumkins who do not see international treats we always taste whatever Chef Earl reccomends from his varied selection .Like Italian pound cake soaked in Rum to die for ! Selection is wonderful, favorites and seasonally fresh baked nuggets of love. Snack on a treat while you shop for antiques and collectibles. Always find gifts especially for the person who has everything. Very friendly and knowledgeable, Richard about antiques and Earl anything with sugar and butter in it.
Why YES, I *would* Like Cake With My Antique Carosel Horse!

Two of the nicest guys around run Lotta's - a strange little half-breed antique store meets bakery (Sing it with me, Cher!), fully equipped to make your most intimate cake wet dream occur, while simultaneously pleasing a person you might have brought along who is diabetic but love LoVe LOVES antiquing. Not only did I find a rare framed print of FANTOMAS (the French robin hood, for those of you wondering) at a meager $45, but I also got my wedding cake - a blackstrap molasses gingerbread with cream cheese frosting, complete with live peonies on top - and it came in under budget. Call ahead and Carl will make you whatever you want... or just show up for his fresh baked Pugliesi bread, with Challah on Fridays. Don't forget your rare label silver tea set, or a charming little autographed photo of your favorite black and white movie star you never knew you needed, on your way out. This is one odd little business that makes Polk street the mecca it is for food and independently owned thrift stores. We need a lot more of Lotta's!
- Pros: Antiques at affordable prices; delicious cookies and cakes
- Cons: not open on Mondays; I frequently want cake on mondays.
