With it's glowing walls, gleaming white chairs and throbbing electronic music, this trendy Thai spot feels like a nightclub in Miami, in a good way. There's a tendency in this city to write off any Thai spot that's not perfectly traditional, or some charming hole-in-the-wall, as being unworthy, but don't tell that to the throngs of people who love this place as much for its specialty dishes--volcanic beef, anyone?--as for its reasonable prices, full bar and party atmosphere.
I really didn't appreciate the unorganized chaos..
Oh dear, I so wanted to love this restaurant. Everything could have been so right too.
I love Thai, they're near my work, and the prices are about what I'm used to paying for lunch.
Where did it all go wrong? Sadly, I had a really unreasonable waitress for one. Being that I'm already in a rush since I have a limited lunch hour, I really didn't appreciate the unorganized chaos.
Best Thai in SF. If you are visiting San Francisco on vacation, you gotta check out Osha Thai. Get the fried chicken fried rice :)
Thai. The space is really the big draw here. I love the look and feel of this restaurant. I go to the Phoenix next door a lot more than Osha, but I always love the interesting natural walls that surround the dinning area. The food is also great of course with good sizes and a lot of great dishes.
Very hip. I really like the ambiance of this place. Very hip, chill and comfy. Food is great; presentations are beautiful and portions are generous. My fav is the volcanic beef. The only thing that I don't like is the plastic chairs - not in synch with the decor, and lends a feeling of coldness (like you're in a vet hospital) to an otherwise relaxed atmosphere. These chairs also seem very cheap, as if they paid $9.99 for each one. Just replace the chairs with wooden ones, and this place will be golden.
We at Osha Thai Restaurant & Bar on Union thank you for your comments and praise of our newest restaurant. Unfortunately, the chairs were not to your satisfaction. Fortunately, you had an enjoyable evening, and the chairs are replaceable. One of the few easy things for a restaurant to review.
best thai food in san francisco. what an amazing dining experience! i made reservations for a table of 2 at 9 pm but decided to show up early and was seated in about 15 minutes. the bar/sitting area is stylish and helps the wait time go by fast. the staff was very friendly and accommodating. the food? spectacular. i dont eat meat so i had the pad thai with tofu. i was also able to order the dish non-spicy. my boyfriend got the volcanic beef (apparently a favorite at the restaurant) and was more than pleased. he said the steak was done to perfection. the decor is hip and the restaurant was great. the only thing that takes a little getting used to are the plastic chairs.
We are delighted that you had a pleasureable experience with us at the newest Osha location in San Francisco.
I guess except for the chairs (they were the owners second choice), you either love them or hate them or just sit in them. We will pass this on to the staff to let them know how they are doing.

A Cool Place with Great Thai Food. Tried the new location and the decor was modern & chic. Had the Wasabi Beef Rolls and it was delicious. The cocktails were original and tasted good too! Will definitely go back soon!
Thank you for experiencing the newest of the Osha family of restaurants. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Yay! Osha moved to the neighborhood!. When I first saw the Osha signage go up on the old Amici Pizza space on Union Street, I got VERY excited. I had always had spectacular meals at the Oshas on Geary and on 2nd Street and looked forward to having a location within walking distance of home. We went the first weekend they were open and had an amazing meal and a terrific bottle of wine - all delicious and reasonably priced. The menu has some of our favorites from the other locations and a bunch of unique dishes as well. I was disappointed that my favorite noodle soup from the Geary St. location was missing, but the Volcanic Beef more than made up for that loss. Since then, we've been back several times and always had great service and enjoyed all of our dishes. The decor is very modern and there is a bar/lounge area to wait in should a table not be available when you arrive. This is the Osha you know and love but maybe even better.
Thank you for enjoying the Osha family of restaurants, especially our newest crown jewel. We enjoy seeing our patrons transition from one Osha style to the next, but the original location on Geary always does have that original simplicity about being down home style.
