Great Food, Excellent Service. Ashoka remains my favorite Indian restaurant in all of San Francisco. The food is fresh and delightful and the service is beyond friendly. I have never been disappointed here and it seems every friend I bring here loves it too. The pumpkin soup is unique and delicious as is the rest of the menu, and as a vegetarian I am especially fond of the Avial Malbar entree. Add some naan and you will be in heaven! The building is a unique narrow space with a lot of charm. The staff is friendly and accomodating. You might feel that you wait a bit for the food but it is only because they make it fresh to order and is well worth the wait. You are always seated promptly and their wait staff is not only Beautiful, but so friendly and welcoming. There is no doubt that I will retrun over and over again for the best indian food in San Francisco.

Wonderful food and great service. The Marina was missing a great, quality Indian restaurant and here it is!! The food was divine. The room is warm and welcoming. And the service was very nice. We will definitely return and highly recommend Ashoka.

Authentic Indian cuisine in a romantic atmosphere for Marina diners.. In Short
High ceilings, red velvet seats and Travertine stone tile floors give the feeling of royalty. That the restaurant is named after one-time Indian emperor Ashoka the Great is no coincidence. The long, narrow dining room seats up to 42 guests who enjoy favorites like murgh malai kabab (Tandoori oven-roasted boneless chicken breast with special seasoning) and the spicy crab cutlet, while Indian music plays softly in the background. A decorative wine rack at the back features local Merlot's and Cabernet's.

The Best Indian!. Bombay has some of the best Indian food in the entire city. Their Tikka Masala and Vindaloo can not be beaten! Service is a little slow, but that's because every dish is made to order. Take-out is an option as well. This place is not to be missed!
