Top-notch botanical garden located in Golden Gate Park. Different sections (don't forget a map) give you a look at plant life from all over the world.
Nice Quick Stroll. We were a bit disappointed to see that large portions of the garden were closed off by ugly orange gates. Not to mention the lack of botanical-ness (haha). Besides this, and the large collection of man eating geese, it was a nice quick stroll that I'm hoping will be blooming with pretty flowers next spring.
Big orange gates are gone! That was our pathway and fountain renovations you were witnessing. All done. Come back and enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Garden. Be sure to ask what's in bloom or featured when you visit or take a docent tour to get great info.
Fifty-five acres of gardens with rare and unusual plants from all over the world, some of which are no longer found in their natural habitat..
In Short
If you want to be one with nature, this is certainly the place to do so. You'll be surrounded by over 7,500 varieties of plants including Gordonia longicarpas and Chihuahua spruces. Even if you're not familiar with the names of faunas, you'll still appreciate the beauty found in gardens like the Mediterranean Climate, Mild-temperate Climate and Montane Tropic. Free guided tours are led by trained and knowledgable docents.
