Editorial Review for Mascara Vintage – by Melody Nazarian

In Short
Owner Cara Samski (the "Cara" in Mascara) brings affordable and stylish secondhand duds to Nob Hill. If you wish you could pick the best-of-the-best from your late fashion-forward grandmother's closet, this is the place for you. Hip guys and gals can find everything from antique frocks, jean jackets, plaid button-downs and printed scarves. Antique dressers house vintage patches and tons of gloves. Retro shoes and jewelry are also available. If you get tired of perusing, check out the artwork on the walls.

The jewelry selection here is small so don't go expecting a Forever 21-like accessories department.

A great find, great people, cool unique vintage clothing and accessories from all over the world. Hand picked by Mas-Cara herself. Prices are very reasonable and your sure to find that perfect something when you go there.

I've been in this shop a few times and have had the same experience each time. They have some interesting items, but aren't interested in selling them. Each time I attempted to inquire about a purse or whatever, the owner and sales person were so rapped up in their conversation, that they totally ignored me. Not wanting to make a rash judgment I asked another shop owner near by, what their opinion was of this business. She totally agreed and said her customers were all in agreement. All it would take is a simple hello to turn things around. This must be the young woman's first business adventure and it would unfortunate to fail for something as easy greeting your customers.
