I live very close to this charming spot and therefore it's hands down my favorite wine bar in the city. It feels like being in Europe: the staff is friendly, the wine selection is exceptional, the snacks are delectable and the prices are totally affordable. Sometimes they have live music.
Great wine bar. Very cool place to have a glass of wine. The atmosphere is very chill and you can actually have a conversation.
Go here!. I?ve been here before and each time, I have had a very pleasant dining experience. On top of that, did you know this restaurant is teaming up with StreetSmart4kids? It?s actually really cool what they?re doing. I just heard about how SS4K is a nonprofit organization that helps underprivileged teens stay healthy. They are running their ?Dine Out and Donate? campaign here (as well as approx. 70 other restaurants in SF) during October and early November. After having a fabulous dining experience, just fill out the donation form when paying the check (minimum donation $3). This is perfect for people like me, who love to eat out all the time and also like to give back to the community. Check it out for yourself on the StreetSmart4Kids website!
Best wine bar in town!. My husband and I happened to find Amelie a few months ago and have been back several times ever since. Be sure to come before 9 for the most attention from the staff. This is very popular place so it gets busy and crowed later in the night. The staff is phenominal...they make recommendations and offer tastings before you place your order. They offer a great menu of small plates if you come hungry and an extensive wine list at affordable prices (PS...generous pours). We love it and will continue to make frequent visits. See you soon Jean Luke!
Stolen Wallet. Be careful. My wallet was stolen out of my handbag while it was on me. Be very careful about your belongings if you chose to go here. The staff was absolutely of no help and offered no concern.
Fantastic Food, Charming French Service Staff. I popped into Amelie last night when walking by with a friend, and I was delighted to have found such a charming and well run restaurant. From the outside it loks like your basic wine bar but don't be fooled- they have a brief dinner menu that makes choosing easy, and while the portions were small the food was incredible. We ordered the Crab and Shrimp Tacos, which were about the size of your thumb but tasty and refreshing. We followed it up with the Sea Bass which was also great and served over creamy, garlic mashed potatoes, and again, was the size of a deck of cards, and last and our favorite, the Gruyere Raviole. Served in a ramekin, the mini raviolis were rich and creamy with the perfect amount light crispiness on top. We ate every bite. And everything paired beautifully with my glass of Pinot Noir, I could have sat there all night eating and drinking, and was sad we had to leave to meet our friends. The ambience was perfect- warm and energetic, but not loud. I wil definitely be coming back.
Wine bar features a design-rich atmosphere, French-focused wine list, many by-the-glass options and small plates for Polk Street's young professionals..
In Short
An all-red interior beckons well-dressed oenophiles to this sultry, surprisingly stylish (for the neighborhood) wine bar and small-plates restaurant with lounge and table seating and a long bar. The young owners are from France, and have injected the correct blend of music, style, food and wine into the luxe space, achieving both Euro-panache and local-lounge appeal. About 20 local and French wines are offered by the glass, and small plates include escargot, foie gras, oysters and Gruyere ravioli.
Cute wine bar, reasonable prices. I went here this past Saturday night and was really happy to have discovered it. The place is really cute (good ambiance), and the wines were fabulous (and very reasonably priced compared to most other wine bars in the city). The service was very friendly too. They had several by-the-glass choices for under $8, which is unheard of at most SF bars. The cheese plate was also fabulous. This is one of my favorite new bars- I will definitely be going back!
