Look no further!!. I've spent some time now searching for the right drum teacher. It's hard finding someone you want to pay to spend an hour with teaching you music. I have a very wide musical interest and the music teachers I've found have such rigid ideas on what they think I should play. I heard about Dave through a friend and when I had my first lesson with him I knew I'd found my match. His teaching style is great. You go through the traditional methods and exercises but he also allows me to expand and improvise on the styles I want to. Not only is he an accomplished musician in the SF jazz scene but he is a wonderful person, knowledgeable and very likable. I've had several lessons with him at this point and I keep improving as a drummer. It's been a great experience that I plan on continuing and I want to spread the word. He is highly reccommended!!

Best Music Teacher. Dave Mihaly is a gem. We have three boys. They all love music, but have very different needs. Two play guitar, and one plays the drums. They have different learning styles, and Dave is a master at meeting each child exactly where he is, without judgement, without making them wrong, but with total encouragement and authenticity. My boys like Dave, they trust him, and they feel better about themselves because of Dave's great teaching skills, and because of his interpersonal skills, too.

What a relief to not have to take each kid to a different teacher. Dave come to our house and teaches each one for 30 minutes, which is perfect for all of us. He even let one of the boy's friend sit in on a lesson, and he liked it so much that he now takes lessons from Dave, too. We always notice an improvement in the boys' behaviour after a lesson with Dave, probably a combination of the music and the contact with Dave.

Really, I cannot recommend Dave Mihaly highly enough. He is a great musician, a master teacher, and a very open minded, flexible, and caring person.

Dave Rocks!!!. Dave is a great musician, and a super nice person. He makes it fun to learn to play drums, and can teach you all of your favorite songs. He has been my teacher for 5 years, and because of his encouragement, now I play in a band. He knows a lot about technique and improvisation, and is very encouraging when it's hard for me to get it. We spend a lot of time actually playing music, not just talking about it, which is what I wanted. I have also been to some of his shows, and he is the most amazing drummer, and a good role model for me. If you want the best drum teacher, go see Dave! He's the best.

A really good music teacher. Dave Mihaly has been teaching me piano for 6 months now. He is patient and a very good teacher. I am also learning to play marimba from him. He plays music with me some of the time during a lesson, which is fun.

A very impressive instructor. I brought my two teenage kids to see Dave Mihaly. My daughter plays the drums, my son plays the guitar. They both have been pleased and inspiried by the lessons they have been given. My son is not so keen on written information and is more an 'ear' player. Dave taught him to read tablature and works with ear training and is introducing him to reading on a staff, as well as showing him chords and songs he enjoys. My daughter is more of a reader and is learning to play rhythms from a method book as well as learning beats she likes from her favorite songs. They both study once a week for a half hour (each). They had previous negative experiences with other teachers, so my wife and I are thrilled. We like him, and so do our kids.
