Killer Happy Hour.
Last Friday we ventured to B Restaurant and Bar for Happy Hour and it was a fantastic find. B restaurant is a not-so-hidden gem atop Yerba Buena Gardens in SOMA. B Restaurant is a contemporary bar and restaurant offering delicious cocktails and food with killer views. The restaurant sits at the top of Yerba Buena Gardens overlooking the gardens and waterfalls as well as offering panoramic views of the city. The best part is B Restaurant has a spacious terrace opening off the main dining room with plenty of room to relax and take in the sunshine after work.
B Restaurant's Happy Hour specials are amazing. Happy Hour begins at 4pm and ends at 7:30pm Tuesday through Friday, providing plenty of time for you to sample their specialty cocktail list and appetizers. Happy Hour drink specials include a "Ginger Ricky", a concoction of gin, fresh lime and house made ginger ale; $5 well drinks; $4 Trumer Pilsner and $5 red wine sangria. In addition to individual drinks, you can also get a table side pitcher of red, white or sparkling sangria for $40. The table side sangria presentation is sure to please everyone at the table (and get them a bit tipsy). Happy Hour food specials are just as tempting as the drinks and include dollar oysters and your choice of small $5 plates such as truffle fries, confit honey-mint chicken wings, marinated olives, baby gem ceasar and salmon rillette.
B Restaurant is a great Happy Hour for locals as well as out of town guests. The stunning views and relaxed atmosphere are a great way to decompress after a hard day of work or shopping.

Waited and Waited and Waited.
First let me say, I didn't actually try the food or drink here which looked absolutely amazing and was the main reason why I walked in.
While walking in Yerba Buena Gardens I got a bit parched and thought it would be a good idea to try out B Bar. It was a Saturday afternoon making it completely acceptable to have an adult beverage at noon. I sat at the bar with my two friends and waited.....and waited....and waited....and waited....for the bartender to come ask us what we want. The bar was about half way full, so it's just not possible that he didn't see us or didn't have time to come take our order!
I don't know what was going on, but after 15 minutes of politely glaring at the waiter (you know, the international sign for "get over here! I need something") we walked out.
I'm kinda sad about this because Yerba Buena Gardens is one of my favorite places in the city, so I'm there a lot! I'm guessing I'll try B Bar again, but not anytime soon!
Lovely Spot. B BAR is the best place to retreat from the city just by walking a few blocks down the street. The venue is very chic yet service is warm and charming. The drinks are well concocted and you must try the Love On which guarantees you will say aaahhhhh when you see it. I usually go to meet friends for happy hour but its a great option for dinner and a movie since its next to the Metreon.
Damned with faint praise....
Not a venue for large parties... and very poor management and customer relations headed by a very clueless GM Don Riley and private party coordinator - Kevin Best --- definitely does not live up to the expectations of his name....
I really feel sorry for the very attentive wait staff and talented bartenders. I really was reluctant to pay the 20% gratuity that was automatically charged but did not want to punish the staff for the inadequacies of management.
After an 8-week advance reservation for indoor seating for 15, the day of was told party moved outdoors since another party of 20 had contracted for indoor seating and therefore given priority.
We shivered through main courses while watching the empty seating of 20. Then as we hovered over coffees, GM Don Riley had the gall to comment ... "It's actually a bit too warm inside, just now." As we shook back circulation into our extremities for the rush to warmer climes... the party of 20 had yet to arrive... And yet, not a word of apology or compensation...
Don't get me wrong... the food was fine, the location - a nice oasis and the drinks - yummy!... but the way Don Riley and Kevin Best handled their F***-up on our reservation really hampered any eventuality of an enjoyable dining experience.
Not Romantic.
It was my boyriend's b-day and I wanted to surprise him and take him somewhere new....according to the only review it was the best experience ever and super romantic and plush. Walking in it was a very industrial looking place....nothing romantic about it....it felt like I walked into a coffee house. The waiter was very sweet when I (confused) asked if there was another dinning area....he said that , pointing to the 6 or 7 small tables was it. the tables were not even dressed!. To be fair we walked out and did not try the food, so my review is about the ambiance, not food or service.
The W was amazing! they even made him a birthday plate.
Great location and good food!. Before heading to the movies at the Metreon, we wanted to grab a bite to eat, but didn't feel like going too far, and definitely didn't feel like the sports/yuppie/conference-attendee crowd at Jillians, se we ventured out back into Yerba Buena Gardens to B Restaurant. What a great find! It was a beautiful Sunday and we sat outside overlooking the park with the waterfall and church in the background. The service was great and the food was awesome. They have a great brunch menu and make a killer bloody mary. If you are like me and are constantly looking for somewhere where you can sit outside on a nice day (or night!), you should check this place out.
Yerba Buena Gardens location of the popular eatery features more upscale dining..
In Short:
A bit tucked into a corner, this Boxed Foods Company installment uses rustic American, European and Asian flavors and a tantalizing view to lure SOMA denizens past its glass walls. Once inside, customers are treated to seasonal dishes and cocktails, thanks to mostly organic produce from farms within 115 miles of San Francisco. Small plates whet the appetite, but with upholstered armchairs and a candlelit stone wall, romantic diners might stay through to Sunday brunch.
Excellence. It has been quite some time since seeing something so impressive open in the city. The views, the service, the food & wine, and ultimately the EXPERIENCE that going out should be. This place is so comfortably beautiful inside and out that it caught our eye on a Sunday walk through Yerba Buena Gardens. We stopped for brunch on the terrace and with such a large outside dining area it was easy to get a table overlooking the waterfalls. This brunch was the best I have had and with a unique menu that I would go back for next Sunday. I had the eggs diablo sered in a skillet with just the right amount of spice and my companion had the steak and eggs which was actually perfectly cooked and thinly sliced filet. I have also met friends at the bar for happy hour and appetizers with the same excellent food and service. Everyone was so nice and hospitable and the prices are a really great value for the quality that you get. What a refreshing addition to this neighborhood.
