My favorite new spot!. I was recently in San Francisco visiting a friend and we went to this new place in the Mission. The food was GREAT for such cheap prices... it will exceed your expectations. The environment is also great for dinner out with a few friends or even a date. The decor of the restaurant is classy without being stiff or boring. We enjoyed our meal, the service was great, and we can't wait to go back for more. You can also order take out!

Mission: Delicious (by visiting NYer). Flew into SF for Thanksgiving and ate here over the weekend. Had Chips & Guac, Pollo taquitos, Carne asada, green beans - all delicious. Saw some chicken go by the smelled good. Everything was VERY fresh. Clean lines in the decor - very light wood & glass, color on the walls - this place will appeal to those with subscriptions to Dwell and accounts at West Elm. V v different than the other places we walked by (bright lights, cheesy decor). Waiters were cute & young, owner friendly long time Mission resident, small tables, counter/bar. Could see this place rubbing shoulders with classy bars in TriBeCa or SoHo in NYC.

Finally: Excellent Mexican Food in the Mission. As a three-year resident of the Mission, I've been searching for the following magic restaurant combo: flavorful Mexican food made with healthy ingredients (meaning no nap required immediately following lunch or dinner), an appealing atmosphere (meaning no florescent lights to draw attention to tired eyes at the end of a long day), affordable prices (meaning I can become a regular), and a menu which broadens the definition of Mexican food (meaning Tex Mex ain't Mexican).

I'm happy to report that my quest is now successful! Regalito sets itself apart from any other Mexican food spot, in the MIssion and beyond. Our waiter shared the restaurant philosophy after our meal - free range chickens &organic ingredients. Everything prepared fresh in a kitchen that about 10 customers can admire from counter seating. The atmosphere is intimate, welcoming, modern, sophisticated and playful all at the same time.

I've been three times. The rotisserie chicken seems to be their signature dish - perfect for folks hanging on to Atkin's diets or seeking out high protein meals. My niece ordered the steak. Since she's five, I ate much of it, and it was delicious. The chicken enchiladas are very tasty - I especially love the red sauce. Haven't tried the pork leg, but it's on the list for next time. My favorite item on the menu may be the guacamole. They make it with high guacamole integrity: no "stretching" of the avocado with mayo or some other unnatural substance. It is avocado "straight up" with tomato, onion, touch of green pepper, salt and spices. Perfect. The lemonade is awesome - very tart. I think they got their license to sell beer and wine, so now you can enjoy the healthy food and ambiance with sangria or a cold beer.

One word of caution - the largest table they can seat seems to be about 6 people, with 4 ideal, so keep your dinner party small. Small is the new big after all. Or, you can get take-out. They seem to be set up to make take-out quick and easy. Enjoy!

Delicious and Fresh. Upscale Mexican food and decor without the upscale prices! The ingredients are fresh and the food is delightfully tasty....like nothing else in the Mission. The roasted chicken is so good, I went back a few nights later for carry out, bringing a whole chicken home for dinner, complete with sides like refried beans that aren't loaded with lard like many other places. The potatoes are worth ordering seconds. They also serve a great brunch menu.

Amazing eats at AMAZING Prices. This place has really got it going on! I have never been anyplace in the Mission as nice as Regalito with such great prices. The decor was obiviously well thought out and the atmosphere is awesome...and I still managed to get out of there without paying an arm and a leg for good food. There are so many great restaurantes in the Mission, but none quite like this. Regalito has really taken true traditional Mexican food to a whole other level. I can't wait to go again and again.
