Gotta love this delightful little creamery...and so does everyone else, the lines can be epic. But the cinnamon with snickerdoodle & roasted banana are worth it.

If you go on the weekend, expect to find long concert-like lines. Visit during off hours to experience what bon appétit magazine calls some of the best ice cream in the nation.

The salted caramel is the gold standard for ice cream. Lines can be long, so if you want to lessen the wait, opt either for the soft-serve window, or pop in and buy a pint to take home; there's a separate checkout for that.
Totally worth going in the middle of the week, in cold weather to avoid the massive line.
Life doesn't get mush better than this.... Their ice cream is incredible and changes often enough to warrant going back often. On a nice day to skip the line- consider buying a pint to share with friends and asking for cones at the register!
Goodness!. This is a great spot when the items are fresh and just out the oven.. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the pastries are to die for! I always bring my nephew here for cookies and cupcakes and he never wants to leave... Keep up the good work
Salted caramel and roasted banana. BiRite is one of the best ice creams I’ve ever tasted. Salted caramel and roasted banana might sound odd but it’s a truly amazing combination.
Best Ice Cream in SF!.
This place has some of the best ice cream in San Francisco. My favorite is the butter pecan. The sundaes are also great here. I did not like the lavender flavor ice cream personally; I thought it tasted like the lavender soap my girlfriend bought me. But I was pretty impressed they were able to get that flavor down.
The only downside is the long lines.
Salted Caramel Ice Cream?. We'd seen this place on Food TV, and were eager to try the salted caramel ice cream. We'd had Trader Joe's seasonal dark chocolate sea salted caramels and loved them, and had made Ina Garten's fleur de sel caramels, loved them too. So when we got to bi-rite, because of the long line we figured just order a double of the salted caramel, how could it be anything but fantastic? Well.....it didn't taste anything like the salted caramel we'd come to know and love. It tasted like burnt sugar, or dark molasses. Kind of bitter, not salty, nothing like we expected. Cute place though, and great texture to the ice cream. Just be sure to get those free tastes, no matter how many people behind you are staring daggers at you. Or go to Humphrey Slocumbe for a slower pace and truly inventive flavors. We loved that place!
the best ice cream in the city. Bi-Rite is worth walking to the park (even on a cloudy day) and standing in line for a solid 30 minutes. Taste a few of their unusual, refeshing flavors before you commit to just a few, and then go hang out in the park. Bi-Rite + Tartine, just down the street, is a killer combo -- good for the soul.
Very good ice cream with good environmental practices. The ice cream here was very good, make no mistake, and if you are in favor of environmentally sound practices like sustainability and like the use of organic and locally sourced ingredients, you will like this place even more. My wife and I went out here on the recommendation of Citysearch and were not disappointed. It is a tiny little place where people were lined up out the door. There was an exotic selection of flavors, like Balsamic Strawberry and Cardamom Orange, which are all made in small batches using mostly organic ingredients. Their plates and spoons are recyclable and they use only real metal spoons for samples so as to not create waste. The ice cream was delicious. I myself enjoyed a sundae with homemade brownie chunks, FRESH whipped cream (it comes in a dollop, not from a can with compressed air), fresh berry compote and 2 scoops of ice cream. Very tasty. The location is a bit dicey, at least at night and getting there can be an issue if you are coming from Union Square, Nob Hill, or any of that area, as we had to take the BART to 16th street and walk a few blocks, but it is not impossible.
best ice cream ever.
I lOVE their ICE CREAM. My all time favorite is the Smore's ice cream pie. I cannot get enough of this
stuff. They use a graham cracker crust, chocolate ice cream, caramel and a marshmallow meringue
toping. There ice cream is made with the purest ingredients. It is creamy and flavorful. The strawberry
is unlike any other. Finally an ice cream that doesn't have that nasty artificial flavor. In addition to ice cream,
they have freshly baked goods. YUM YUM! Cookies, pies, brownies etc. Who needs MAGNOLIA in New York. Great staff, service, prices and location.
Umm umm good!. Nice people, great taste, and exotic flavors. Try the homemade ice cream sandwiches! I would definitely recommend this place to any ice cream lover.
