Naysayers are jealous - this place is a haven.
All these bad reviews are ridiculous! Obviously written by other restaurants that can't compete. Have you even been in the restaurant? It's not "trendy too cool" - it's classy and relaxed. Nobody that I've encountered in the 3 times I've been there was rude or had an ego. You have to at least recognize the fact that the restaurant is only one month old - EVERY restaurant evolves and changes, especially at the beginning. For being so young, they do an amazing job.
The food is great and there are some definite standouts, such as the pan-seared skate, tomato gelee (very silky, not like jello), foie gras, the pate and the NY strip. Collard greens are also awesome - not soggy or bland. I'm not usually a dessert-at-a-steakhouse person, but they definitely have some great things on the menu here, too. Loved the concord grape cheesecake and the butterscotch pudding. The whole place feels much more inviting that some of the other steakhouses in town - not all that manly-man wood nonsense.
Give it a chance - it's downhome good food and is a respite from retail burnout.
Ok, enough reviews from the management: here's the deal -- avoid this place. The steaks are bland and mediocre and the salads and sides are often worthy of being sent back. The steaks come with a choice of sides (none that we tried were any good except for the horseradish). The steak itself was simply boring -- no real flavor like a steak you would get at Harris, Morton's, etc. The salads are all a bit strange and the Cesare has a bland dressing that had too much vinigar in our visit. We were not impressed and cannot recommend the place.
More like Bark Creek!. We had steaks here. And I must admit Outback was better! These reviews are definitely from Management. The food was so-so. Service was lacking big time. We waited forever for every request. When we asked for some sour cream the waiter gave me a look like I was going to eat a baby. Bottom line is I'm paying for the food and I'll eat whatever I want, the way I like it! He got it after I had one bite left. Our water was never refilled and we had to ask for everything. I was very angry. I almost walked out on the bill. That's how mad I was at paying for this lousy experience. I'm so tired of trendy too cool restaurants. Wake up people and get over yourself. You are not reinventing the wheel. So tone down the ego and give us some value for our bucks.
Outstanding Steak House!. I recently went to dinner at Lark Creek Steak and absolutely LOVED IT! From the second I reached the host stand the staff and managment was very attentive, welcoming and friendly! I highly recommend going straight for the beef steaks, our bone-in ribeye and filet mignon were cooked to perfection! And you get a choice of steak sauces, my favorites were the hollondaise and horse radish cream. Not to be missed as well are the side dishes, collard greens, creamed spinach and the sauteed mushrooms were excellent! To finish it all off there is a huge selection of delicious desserts. If you are a lover of California wines Lark Creek Steak has some outstanding wines that are very difficult to come by. If you don't have time to have dinner you should at least stop in the bar and have a drink just to check it out!
A nice addition to Bradley Ogden's restaurants. Great food and service. I also thought the prices were reasonable considering the quality and location. The atmosphere is nice and quiet. The menu offers a great selection of food choices. They also offer a prix fixe for under $30. Corkage was just $15 - less than many similar restaurants. A nice addition to Bradley Ogden's restaurants.
Great new spot--more than just steaks. Check this place out! It knocked my socks off and it has only been open about a week. We had fantastic prime steaks and everything else was great too. You know when you go to most steakhouses the steak is good and everything else, well, lacks? Not here. Great soup, amazing biscuit amuse bouche, vegetables fresh and cooked right, salad that wasn't cottony tomatoes and red onions (why the chain steakhouses think anyone wants to eat that is beyond me). Great wine list too. Get there before the masses find it!
