There are two ways to enter this moody, cave-like bar: descending the stairs or through the custom-made, serpentine slide. Once inside the main space, digital video screens flash images of San Francisco and booths of various sizes take up most of the wall. Much of the space is dedicated to the dance floor and a DJ booth cranks 80s and 90s mash-ups for an energetic bridge and tunnel crowd.

Careful, the staff here steals. I started out as a fan of this place, even if the doorman can be a little too self-important and the drinks are pricey. My most recent experience - having my leather jacket stolen from the coat check - has really soured me on Slide though. About a month ago, I inadvertently left my jacket in the coat check after leaving in a hurry at the end of a good night. The next morning I spoke to a very pleasant, courteous and professional young woman, Sarah. She confirmed my jacket was, in fact, still there, and that as a policy Slide would hold onto it for up to 30 days for me to pick up at my first opportunity. On my first try, it was too early in the evening and no one was there. The next time I stopped by, Sarah had taken some time off and the person I spoke with could not find my jacket. She saw a record that it had been there and no record it had been donated to charity or picked up, and she recommended I call back once Sarah had returned to see if she knew what had become of it. She didn't. After looking into it, the best she could offer me was that there were over 70 people on staff, she had been gone for two weeks, and she gave me a fax number to claim reimbursement. The fax number I was given was for Ruby Sky next door. Apparently they are connected through ownership. I faxed everything as instructed and received no response. I called to follow up and received no response. Sarah has been a pleasure to deal with but the rest of Slide is questionable. No one from management seems concerned that someone in their staff is stealing customer property. I'm sure that with what they make ripping people off on drinks, they could afford to pay for my jacket. I have usually enjoyed the music and there's almost always a good looking crowd, but if you're going to Slide, stick to the warm nights when you don't need a jacket. This place just can't be trusted to do the right thing.

This is a great spot and the staff makes sure the room isn't full of a bunch of guys or girls. It can be hard when you have a large group of guys and aren't going for table service but the place is very well appointed and worth checking out.
