I was traveling through Sanfransisco on a road trip from Vancouver Canada. My truck broke down and was very concerned about how I was going to get it fixed and get home to Canada. I found Kirill & KSH Automotive through numerious online reviews. - Every word is true.
I can guarantee that if you are ever in need of automotive repairs - whether you live in Sanfransisco or just passing through like me - that KSH is simply the best.

The best mechanic in San Francisco
by susanfontaine at Citysearch
It's taken me the 3 years I've lived in The City to find a great mechanic. But at last I have and I'm a customer for life. Besides being charming, Kirill is honest, fair, smart, and great at diagnosing and solving car problems.
I went to him to see what it would take to make my 1997 car last another 2 years (yes, I know--not a green thing to do, but I lost my job and times are tight). He reviewed all the systems, fixed a bunch of things, said I was good to go, and charged me only $600. He was great at explaining what needed to be done.
There were a lot of cars there--ranging from highendmobiles to cars even older than mine.
His garage is tucked away on the 2nd floor so it's a thrill maneuvering in and out.
Unreservedly recommended.
- Pros: Great rates, great work, on time, nifty 2nd floor location
- Cons: Hmmmmm...none come to mind
By far the best automechanic I've ever experienced. Affordable and honest.

I'm 32 y/o professional who drives daily. I'm not a 'car person' my driving is usually hard on a vehicle.
So I had taken my cars to many mechanics before and had different experiences - some better and some worse. In every case I felt like I didn't know exactly what was going on, and if I was charged fairly. I was never in control.
Until I met this guy. A friend of mine referred me to this auto mechanic. He was very religious about using only his services and told me that he was the most knowledgeable and honest mechanic in town.
I'm full of gratitude for this referral. And this is the only reason I'm writing this review - people should know about REAL and HONEST service providers.
Anyhow, the owner of the business turned out to have a great attitude. He impressed me with his knowledge. He explained all options not just from technical perspective, but from financial one. I knew exactly what I was offered, why I needed that service, what would happen if I chose a different option, etc. etc.
He offered me different options as to purchasing the spare parts, including used ones or new, branded ones.
I felt like he was my buddy, who was trying to help by offering the best work and charging fairly.
The work was done fast and excellent. It still lasts.
It wasn't an easy task too. He repaired the engine for a very and rare Toyota Van. He also helped me to prepare the previous car for sale, by fixing very specific and complex problem.
I was impressed with the range of his knowledge and asked him how he ended up being so qualified.
His story was actually quite interesting - he had gotten a University degree in mechanical engineering in Russia and then tons of education in the US.
He is basically a brain surgeon when it comes to cars. And he is affordable.
So I feel like this is a great chance for me to thank him for his professionalism, honesty. and consistency. I actually learned something from him about life and integrity.
Five Stars +
- Pros: Affordable, Honest, Highly Professional, Presents different options
- Cons: you still have to pay money :)

Kirill, the owner, is an awesome dude! I ran into some issues with my right rear tire, a nail was caught in my tire, brought into my dealership, but was told i had to change the tire (which could potentially cost me a bomb, thanks Lexus! ouch) and the tire was non-patchable. But after reading the reviews on this page, i went ahead to give Kirill a call, brought my car in to KSH Automotive. As soon as Kirill saw the problem on the tire, he directed me to take a seat in the guest room, and said it'll take about 20 mins. When I asked him for the price quote, he went like "$15, can you afford it?" and smiling. It was amazing. He's very professional, reasonable and friendly. He's a very trustworthy business man I've ever met. To top it off, he has amazing team supporting him at his company. As promised my tire was patched within 20 mins, and worked perfect ever since. I highly recommend him to anyone and my friends. And I told him that he'll be assured to have my business from now on. Thumbs up to you, Kirill! Great job!
- Pros: Timely, reliable, very reasonably priced, and high expertise
- Cons: None
