Surprisingly great breakfast. My wife & I had breakfast at Persimmon this morning. It was delicious & the staff were wonderful as well. Unfortunately, our time left in San Francisco is too short to enjoy dinner here but we'll give it a try on our next visit. I had the eggs benedict on corned beef hash - superb with a unique flavor; highly recommend it. Nothing fancy here; just good wholesome food in a warm inviting atmosphere. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Editorial Review. Greek staples like hummus, falafels and dolma share the menu with garlic fries, paella and California-style salads.

Well-prepared food and plenty of it, clean and pleasant atmosphere, good service. My friend and I stumbled in to Persimmon while trying to find another Mediterranean place he vaguely remembered. It looked so nice (pretty decor with Eastern flavor), we decided to stay. Good decision. We had wine (decent though not extensive wine list). The friendly, efficient waitress brought bread and a dish of olive oil and balsamic vinegar jazzed up with spices and grated cheese. We began with hummus (very creamy and well prepared), and pita bread, then greek salad (there is a good selection of salads), and shared the Paella, which was truly excellent. I say we shared it - and we were stuffed, and I brought home enough hummus and Paella to have an entire meal the following day (a large one). We desperately wanted to try dessert (there was particularly a cherry-pistachio sorbet thingy that sounded interesting to me although there was a nice selection, including standard fare such as cheesecake and apple pie), but NO WAY. Even so, for some reason, we were given a complimentary Tiramisu. I like to think it was because I am so cute. Next time, I'll go lighter on the earlier fare and save room for dessert. I will DEFINITELY be back.
