Polk Street restaurant combines flavors from around Latin America, but tones down the spices for Americanized palates..
You can tell a lot about a restaurant by the condiments on the table, so take it as a sign that Parrilla's earth-toned tabletops are decked out with ketchup rather than Tapatio or Tobasco. Despite a muted spice level and less heat than the local taqueria, the Polk Gulch eatery does follow through on its promise of "casual Latin dining" with a menu that offers south-of-the-border items ranging from yucca fries and fried plantains to sopa and Oaxacan mole. The signage on the building reads La Parrilla Grill, as does the paper liner in the free chips--we're guessing the Latin American franchise got a remake in this upper-scale location while maintaining the affordable prices.

Tasty food, excellent service.
We had a great light dinner at this Latino restaurant. The shrimp and avocado salad was very tasty. Wait staff were very attentive. One of our orders got mixed up but the waiters were extremely apologetic and made sure we left with a good impression -- which we certainly did. If you're there about an hour and a half before sunset, sitting at the corner table on stools you get a great view of Polk Street and you enjoy the evening sun. This was a great little find.

Mediocrity At Its Finest.
The atmosphere is nice, the wait staff was friendly and the margaritas were great, but other than that, this restaurant left much to be desired. Between realizing that there was a receipt in my drink and my girlfriend receiving the wrong entree, we realized it was time to go. We also witnessed a waiter spilling an entire tray of drinks on a neighboring table.

A crying Shame.
Service is unorganized, service is unprofessional, management focuses on having too much fun over helping with service, and they do not serve liquor. The drinks are made from soju. That being said, the food is amazing. The chef did a wonderful job, it is a shame the management does not require the service to be as good as the food.

Great new restaurant.
This great spot on Polk is unlike any of the other La Parrilla grills around the city. Its upscale casual, with good decor, and outside dining. The service is friendly and warm, and the food really stands out. They also make one strong margarita! I've been there both at night and also for lunch, and with all the people watching on polk street, and the food and drinks at this place, both experiences were memorable.
