A good spot, and some excellent cuts of fish - definitely a place to seek out good sashimi. Their rolls were the standard fare - not bad, but not terribly creative.

Overall, a good sushi joint that doesn't stand out too much from the crowd.

fresh cow hollow/marina sushi (gr8 4 lunch). Its been open for a year...but I just started eating there. I love sushi and was thrilled when Hime opened on Lombard...but they arent open for lunch or on Mondays. This is my new regular when Hime isnt open (and if I want to save a few $s in return for less atmosphere)

Amazing service and tasty sushi at a very affordable price. My girlfriends and I were planning on eating at different restaurant in the neighborhood, but they had a two hour wait for seating. So we decided to walk back up the street where we had noticed a sushi restaurant. It was about 8pm on the Sunday before Memorial Day, and we were able to be seated immediatly. The dining room was small, but very cute with enough room between tables so you didn't feel like you were on top of your neighbors. The menu was very extensive and offered lots of different cooked and raw selections. Our order came out of the kitchen very quickly and looked wonderful. The sushi was very fresh and the pieces were all very good sized. After our meal, we asked the server to take our picture (we were in town on vacation) and sadly the batteries in our camera died. The sushi chef immediatly asked what size and ran in back to find some for us! Our experience up until then was very good, but that really put it over the top! We all eat sushi on a very regular basis and this is some of the best ever. Not only that, it won't require you to take out a loan or sell a kidney to be able to pay the bill!

Good Sashimi for Great Price. We were at the Bayside Grill for a game and wanted sashimi afterwards. Luckily, SkipJack was right next door. We'd never heard of it before, but decided to give it a go. My boyfriend and I are a bit picky when it comes to sashimi...after all, it's raw fish, you don't want to f*%# around with that! (Our personal favorite is Sushi Ran in Sausalito, but for the city, this place is great!) We sat at the bar to watch the chef at work.

You can get 5 pieces of salmon sashimi for $5! How can you beat that? The pieces were sliced pretty big, but I just took smaller bites =) The hamachi sashimi was pricier at $9 for 5, but in the end, this was a great price for sashimi, period! The hamachi was extremely soft! This is also the only other place I've ever been to besides Sushi Ran that had Butter Fish sashimi (aka Sable Fish). AMAZINGLY whisper soft! We also had the unagi which was really good. Most places drown the eel in the sauce, but here, it was light, thus allowing you to enjoy the flavor of the eel and the sauce, without it being overpowered.

Do note that I've had softer and fatter salmon sashimi, but in the end, for this price, it was great!

Also, the wasabi here was GREAT! Other places don't have the flavor of it quite right, but here, LOVED IT!!!

And we cannot forget the sake here! One of the few places in the city with such an extensive list of sake. We had the #17, dry but fruity. Very smooth. Loved it also!

All in all, this will be our new favorite spot for affordable sashimi in the city until we save up money (and get the time to get out to Sausalito) for our next trip to Sushi Ran!

a sushi gem. This place is a true gem on often overrated Union street. The sushi is fresh and delicious, the decor is inviting, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. They also have a large sake menu and every one I have tried so far has been fantastic!

Modern sushi boite in the heart of Cow Hollow draws a well-dressed crowd for fresh sushi and traditional specialties.. In Short
A sushi bar backed by large sake bottles dominates one corner of the minimalist-style dining room. Blond wood, dropped lighting, and gray and slate blue walls give the one-room restaurant a cool, mod vibe. Although the well-executed fare, including grilled miso-marinated butter fish, has won high marks, the star attraction here is ultra-fresh sashimi and creative rolls. Sushi chefs churn out popular choices such as the Cherry Blossom, tuna and yellowtail rolled with cucumber and avocado.

You better be good when your food is raw.. You can scrap the atmosphere and the celebrity rolls anytime when your talking freshness and sticking to the basics. Sashimi here is the thickest and freshest you will find; the meat literally melts in your mouth. The portions are good sized, reasonably priced and the menu offers good variety even for the not so daring. Its a small local place without a lot of fan fare, but then again I am not there for the interior decorating or the scene. It's got a nice easy feel to it, great sake menu, and go figure lets me create atmosphere for a change whether it be friends or the one I love. Simply said its a great place if you want to eat and not be scene.

Good Sushi, No Frills. Shipjack's has good sushi. The fish was fresh and the service was great. The restaurant is small but has a sushi bar in additional to table seating. This place is not super trendy but a good place to go for decent sushi and good service!

Best Sushi, Sake, Service. This is a great place to go any night of the week, the atmosphere is smooth and modern. The food is amazing, (my personal favorites are the Shiro Maguro Sashimi and the Dragon Roll). They have a premium sake selection hand picked by a respected sake master. The customer service is excellent, your tea cup or sake glass will never go empty. If you're looking for a new place, a date place, or a girl's night out, this is it.
