In Short
Made for slumming young locals and celebrities alike (the club is heavily linked to Tommy Lee), this triple-decker space is built for a raucous good time, trouble--or both. The first floor is painted to look like New Orleans, with verandas, a live-band stage and DJ booth. The second is space-age white, used as a canvas for light and projection shows, and boasts a ventilated, indoor smoking terrace. The VIP third floor features dancer poles, geometric couches and a suspended DJ table.

I was invited to be on the guest list, when I get there, I'm told there's no guest list. It goes down hill from there. $15 per person to get in. The bouncers were the most unfriendly people I've ever met, apparently they thought they were working at some sort of prison When you walk in, you're on the main floor of...something. I don't know what it is, but there's nothing going on there. A bouncer yells at you to tell you that everything is on the second and third floor. When you go up to the second or third floor, you find out that the coat check is in the basement. When we checked our coats, we then went up to get a drink. No one was at the bar ordering drinks yet we had to wait about 5 minutes before a bartender turned around to address us. When we were addressed it was for him to tell us that he was no longer on the clock. Once we finally got a simple vodka/tonic, I watched the bartender do a short count on the vodka then charge me $9 for a drink in a disposable cup. The DJ was the only saving grace of the night as he was kicking butt. However, the dance floor was so unbelievably sticky that I was afraid that I would come out of my shoes if I moved the wrong way. There are two small white couches up against a wall that is a sad imitation of a Vegas VIP area. Someone was passed out on one of them. As we left, we went to get our coats. The coat check girl had been smoking in the room the entire night, making sure that our jackets had the familiar rank smell of old smoke. As we proceeded to leave, we were told that the exit was on the first floor. As we went to the first floor, we were yelled at that the first floor was closed. That must be how they keep the place semi-full. It took a long time in SF for me to have a club experience that I consider to be "bad." Crash was the one that finally made it happen

It's gross. I've been there several times just to give it a chance, and before dissing it further I'll write the pros: the sound system is great, it sounds like a Vegas club; the DJ's and music are usually pretty good (all good except for this one guy at the Hard Eight party who mixed weird mash ups of new hip hop with old rock songs that didn't really have much of a beat), the go go dancers were hot, and the layout of the club is nice. but it's gross. They need staff to be constantly cleaning the place, like they do at Pure in Vegas, if they want to pull off the Vegas image they are so desperately trying to pull off. There are pools of gross colored bodily liquids all over the dancefloor and pretty much everywhere in the club is dirty. Having plastic cups is one thing, maybe even a good thing since I've witnessed a few fights there, but plastic shot glasses are tacky (and something that I had no idea even existed until I went to Crash). The location is terrible too, in the Tenderloin, so unless you're up for paying $25 for parking on top of the $15 cover (we did get on a guest list pretty easily though) and $10 drinks you'll be walking past many street urchins that are relieving themselves on the sidewalk with one hand while they harass you for change (at best) and make other gestures with the other hand. I wouldn't completely write this club off, because it has a lot of potential. Hopefully they'll work out the kinks soon, personally I'll be taking a break for now and will give them another shot in a few months!

Last night, upstairs, Trevor Simpson and Dimitris Mykonos totally rocked the house! and there were guys who could actually dance, and good - tho alot of them danced with each other - what up with that?!? Okay, not all of them - I did dance with a few. Also the photogs were nice and fun -- projecting the photos on the wall is cool. The Samba dancers and drummers were blazing -- and i was lucky to be up front behind a photog for a bird's eye view -- but it was so dark and they were crowded in front of the DJ booth so most of the crowd could only see the feathers on their head. Other than that, this place bites! The staff from doorman to security have a bad attitude. the ladies bathroom was flooded by 11P and stayed that way till closing. as the night played on, the crowd got aggressive and both men and women were pushing and shoving on the dance floor - plus upstairs, the pole dancers, while looking totally hot, were really lame dancers - no energy - just posers. The girls downstairs in their jeans and t's were totally red hot dancers!! simulating girl on girl s*x acts! the bar was totally ridiculous to get a drink. I got shoved up against the bar and people behind me were screaming at each other "I was here first" and climbing over me while I was trying to pay. The same drink that was $6 at 11P suddenly was $8 at 1A....huh? not alot class here....next!
