Excellent lunch and museum-going. I went on a tour of the Asian Art Museum with Table for Six and after our tour we had a luncheon served at Cafe Asia, the museum's cafe. We had egg rolls, chicken salad, curry beef, rice and green tea. Everything was excellent - crispy, delectable, non-greasy egg rolls; spring salad with tender grilled chicken and mandarin oranges in the salad with a light dressing; and tender beef in a light curry sauce. It was a delightful surprise to have such good cuisine in a museum. The cafe itself is also quite inviting, light and spacious. I look forward to going to the museum again (this was my first visit) and to having another meal at Cafe Asia.

Best way to tour the museum is to start from the top floor and make your way back down.. Best way to tour the museum is to start from the top floor and make your way back down. That way, as soon as you're finished with the culture thing, you immediately get a power-up. Do not skip the cafeteria either, it's MUY EXCELLENTE! If you're craving something savory, order their paninis.

Marvel of Manga a must see!. I drive by the Asian Art Museum all of the time but never really gave it a second thought. Then I heard about this new exhibit for the Marvel of Manga and immediately gathered a group of friends to check it out. It was awesome!! We are going to enter their contest for our anime drawings

One of my favorite museums in the country. You must go if you are ever in the sf area. It is a beautiful collection and I enjoyed every minute. I was just as impressed with the permanent collection as the visiting ones.

Casual museum eatery offers pan-Asian fare.. In Short
The service at this restaurant in the Asian American Museum is cafeteria style, but the long line--which can wind back to the exit door--moves briskly. Lithographs of Chinese characters and stone sculptures warm up the otherwise spare space, which is filled with simple wooden tables and chairs. Chefs whip up made-to-order salads, sandwiches, noodle dishes and soups. Snacks include Pocky--a popular Japanese treat of cookie sticks dipped in chocolate or strawberry frosting.
