Excellent!!!. I was visiting from Washington D.C. and meeting friends that i haven't seen in 18 years. Very nervous, tired, and hungry. We met there and i had the best steak in my lifetime! The salad and potatoes were incredible!A very nice surprise, not to mention the bar made the perfect white russians for me!To sum up my experience,I was put at ease from the service, mood, and food!!Great place to eat,or to just meet friends, thanks!!
knowledble and friendly staff, great bread.
moved to San Fran for project work mid Dec 2007 and I am still here May 2008.
The fly trap was my first dining restaurant and quickly became my place 2-3 nights per week.
The service and food is fanominal, and I do eat out alot. Where do get consistant professional servers who are truely knowledgable of wine and there specialties. Meg & Jay are the two staff that I first met and always enjoy seeing when I visit for dinner or just the odd drop in for a drink. Fernado and the other staff are equally professional and well informed.
I sincerely recommend this place for a nice dinner either casual or for the someone special.
10 out of 10 for me for food and service. I have never given a 10, but what does if for me is also the little things, and they have it. A fine gentleman who helps the wait and bar staff, is always focused and doing the bread servings, always have a full glass of water and a clean table between servings.
If I were the owner I would be proud!!!

Outstanding SF Restaurant-In a City Where There Are Many. Very good food and service. The restaurant is very cozy and romantic. There are always excellent specials and a beautiful wine list with some very good values. We love visiting this unique restaurant on every trip to SF. Upscale in fashion crowd.
Cozy and romantic!. We loved this restaurant! The service was excellent, the ambience was beautiful, the food was delicious. The extra bonus was the lovely live music. This is a great place to go for a romantic dinner.
Best Place to Impress. Business lunch or a romantic dinner, the Flytrap Restaurant is without hesitation the best, most esthetically pleasing place in the city. Lively yet quiet enough to have a discreet conversation. Sophisticated ambiance and decor worthy of a presidential dining room. A great selection on the menu with each dish a gustatory masterpiece. I highly recommend the Fly Trap for any truly special occasion.
great customer service & old school atmosphere. This is one of those places I REALLY wanted to like. Upon arrival (christmas night at 930pm) i was happy...it was cozy and there was a piano player. Sat at the bar, service was great. We ordered the french onion soup $7---tasty, pretty decent beef stock and great cheese/bread quantity. THe lobster bisque---blah, rich but bland. THe calamari---blah, slighty cold, REALLY BLAND. Tried ordering the Chicken Jeruslem but they were completely out of chicken :(. Ordered the Halibut special---it was OK, nothing special at all and slightly over cooked. The New Zealand sparkling wine was nice, the chardonnay options were not good. Overall I might stop in for a drink again---but thats it.
Reputable California cuisine and old-fashioned sophistication in SOMA..
In Short
Media and design professionals from surrounding offices may choose to power at these elegant tables, but that doesn't make the space any less romantic. Wallpapered in antique prints and hung with chandeliers, this white-tablecloth restaurant boasts a long history of "classic" food--sauteed sweetbreads, rack of lamb and coq au vin--as well as Mediterranean soups, salads and sides. The full piano bar attracts a refined happy-hour crowd there for the inexpensive champagne and oysters on the half shell.
Crab Agnolotti Exploded with Flavor!!. Not only was this half-moon pasta killer, the service was very efficient and friendly and the wood paneled interior was quant and inviting. I followed the caesar and pasta with an amazing tiramisu. Highly Recommended!!
