TERRIBLE ATTITUDE. I got dissapointed today how rude two other customers and me were treated today at 7.30am, 30 minutes late it alleged opening time, by a female staff . She, instead of being apologetic for being late, told us "we are opening late today;" when I guy asked how long; she said 20min. That sense of entitlement is like we are asking for a favor; do you know that since now on I would rather go to the Starbucks - too bad a nice place I started to love it's now becoming a bitch.

AWFUL attitude = bad customer service. The last time I was at Philz (sanchez) was around October 2006 and I don't miss it at all. I have to admit, their coffee is good and worth the $$ you pay, but if the woman behind the counter snaps back at you, then proceeds to talk to her co-worker in another foreign language...I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

Here's what happened: I went back to the counter to ask if she could add more chocolate on my coffee because it didn't taste like mocha at all. She then retorted "well, you ordered Tesora???? right???" perplexed, i said "yes". She shouts over to her co-worker in a foreign language (to which I have no idea what was said, go figure). She then tells me "You should've said MOCHA TESORA, you only said Tesora...IF you said Mocha Tesora then we add the chocolate". I then look at the me?u board, but I didn't see any other line item which differentiated the Tesora from a Mocha Tesora. There is only one Tesora on the me?u. In the end, she grudgingly proceeded to make me a new coffee...and of course it tasted good, but her unwarranted attitude left me a sour note in the end.

Nice cuppa with a story. Love Philz for its charm and chutzpah. Pretty good coffee too, although sometimes it's just a little too thick, especially for a drip coffee. Really love the aromatics the cardamom brings to the coffee, and while I can't especially taste the mint leaf, gotta love the flair that goes into flinging a fresh leaf into your just brewed coffee.

Coffee lover's paradise. Simply the best cup of coffee in San Francisco, maybe in the world.

The Mission's cult favorite java joint brings its signature blends to the Castro.. In Short
Java lovers head to this sunny coffeehouse decorated with thrift store couches for handmade, spiced drip coffee. Each cup is prepared individually, garnished with mint leaves, frothy heavy cream and sugar. An abbreviated menu of Phil's ten secret blends is available here, including the Tantalizing Turkish Brew, Phil's Mocha Tesora, Jacob's Wunderbar Brew and the Philharmonic Wow. Pastries from Sweet Sue's and baklava satisfy sweet-tooth cravings, and whole or ground beans can be taken home.
