love the service here!. love the service here!

I love the service here! Everyone has a smile! Their coffee was pretty good but not excellent. The first time I sat down here I enjoyed being here. It’s like they want you to sit down and enjoy their coffee.

good coffee, weird rules, rude cashier. I popped in for an iced decaf. I had never been to Philz before and wasn't aware of their "rules". As a foolish novice I naively walked up the cashier and asked "Can you make me an iced decaf Americano?" He huffed and puffed, refused to make eye contact, and then snapped "I'm not going to do it but one of those guys will!" OK. I don't actually CARE who makes it and I explained to him that my use of the word "you" was intended as plural. He charged me $3. I then found out that in this cafe the rules are that you enter the scrum in front of the cafe machines and try to get one of the baristas to take your order. Ok, fine. I did that. The barista was actually really nice but it turns out that they don't even make Americanos because they don't have expresso. He kindly offered to make me an iced decaf and I agreed. So, I guess I got charged $3 for a regular cup of coffee plus ice. Thanks, cashier guy! Then the barista kept asking me if I wanted anything else in my coffee. I'm wondering "Like what? Torani syrup? Whipped cream? What could I want in it?" I said "no" and he handed me the coffee. Ok, it turns out that they don't have cream and sugar out for you to use. You have to ask the barista to put it in for you. That's why he kept asking if I wanted anything in it. Ok, fine. He puts the cream in for me and after about 12 minutes I walk out with a cup of iced decaf that cost me $3. The coffee was actually really good and like I said the barista was nice but... if you're going to come up with some system other than the traditional one- order from the cashier and put your own cream in at the condiment station- then you really need to actually be NICE about it when new people come in. I did not deserve the condescending attitude from the geriatric pirate cashier and it was very uncool of him to overcharge me.

Quality Coffee. I like that the people that work here really know their coffee. You ask for a recommendation and they can actually discern between the different types of blends. This location is super clean and the baristas are friendly. I haven't had a cup I didn't like here, and there are a dozen+ varieties.

This charming/quirky Mission coffeehouse serves up rich and frothy Arabic-style brews made one cup at a time.. In Short
Proprietor Phil Jaber takes his coffee seriously--as does his staff, all of whom are trained to craft each cup by hand. A menu of 10 strong, Turkish- and Arabic-inspired brews, each topped with a sprig of mint, is the star attraction, but those on the go can grab a cup of brewed coffee from a large thermos. Artwork and flyers cover the walls, and plants and mismatched thrift-store furniture beckon java junkies to lounge.
