Great color but very pricey! – I was pleased with my cut and color but pretty shocked when I had to shell out $330 (this includes tip) As a professional who bills out hourly, I have to say that this is just way too much for hair service.
Best Color in San Francisco! – I've been in search of the perfect highlight since I moved to San Francisco 8 months ago. It looks like I?ve found it at Secret Agent. I was on my way to get coffee when I saw the cute salon in my neighborhood which I hadn?t noticed before. I stopped in and asked about getting an appointment. They were able to accommodate me right away.
Tori gave me a perfect highlight!! My hair looks so natural. The color blends seamlessly from dark to light. I love the finishing gloss that she put on. Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!!
so-so service – In the four or five appt.s I've had at Secret Agent, there were problems of one kind or another: including very long waits and pressure to buy product.
Great Colorist – Melissa is definitely one of the best colorist in SF! and this is saying a lot since I have thick coarse Asian hair with tons of white hair to cover up. she is very knowledgeable in what she is doing and she is very friendly. every time I get my hair done with her I never really have to go back until 3 months later! the salon itself has a very cool vintage feel..the people there are super friendly and very funny =) I love going to this place and really I have tried salon Miel, Sublime, Posh and several others in the city and no one does COLOR better than Melissa! Try her and you will not be disappointed...
So-so experiences – I've been to both locations a few of times - for cuts only. The cuts have been good - but not great. The downtown salon is tacky and messy and looks like an old-fashioned neighborhood salon not an upscale contender. The Calif. St. salon is nicer. Main point of contention - pricing. Priced very high for service level, ambience, etc.
Best Colorist in San Francisco! – Melissa Wagner is truly amazing. There really aren't words to describe her talent. All I can say is, no one else matches it. She is a true inspiration as an artist. Her work is thorough and consistantly seamless.
If you're looking for the perfect colorist, you've found her.
SAS California St. Location--beware – I was so incredibly excited to go to SAS last weekend. I was in dire need of a cut and color. Saturday came and I called twice and let them know I was running late, as a very close family member was in emergency surgery. I explained that and that I was running late because I needed to pack up to head out of town after my appointment. I knew I was 20 minutes late and that I would probably not have time for all the bells and whistles and I told them I understood this over the phone as I rushed across the city.
The front desk person was SO rude to me, not even saying a word when I walked in the door. You could literally feel the anger from both of them pouring out of them onto me. The colorist and Mr. Front Desk Dork were so put off by my tardiness that they wouldn't initially speak to me or say ?it is OK? any sympathy or empathy over how obviously upset I was because I was late. Instead, the colorist peaked through my hair and said , "There is NO WAY I can do anything with this today, it needs so much work," I began to cry and apologize. Granted the colorist did put on a really nice temporary color and scheduled an appt. for me for the following weekend, but nothing could prepare me for my experience during my hair cut with Gino.
I heard he was excellent and he did a pretty good job but not great by any means of the word. During the process, however, his family came in and he had a HUGE fight with his entire family while he was cutting my hair that carried on for about 1/2 hour. It was ridiculous and so nerve wracking. I mean, I come to a salon to relax, not to be made to cry and to temporarily raise my stress level.
The end finally came and I was fairly happy with my cut until I got the hair cut bill?I have shoulder length hair and 1 hour cut cost $115. Maybe I went in on a bad day but I don't have anything good to say about the people at the new SAS California St. location.
After having to wait for weeks to see my stylist at Glam-A-Rama, I gave a new salon a jingle.
And, I haven't gone anywhere else since.
Melissa, Steve, Jessica, etc. are all so incredible.
Melissa has been coloring my hair for just over a year now and each time their magic with my hair stops traffic. People stop me to make comments from "WOW! That color looks amazing on you!" to "Is that your natural color?" to "That style is gorgeous, who did your hair?" or those in the know about my stylist say, "One of these days I need to make a trip to see Melissa."
Don't wait another day.
Melissa's an absolute expert with color, Steve looks like he just stepped out of a Tom of Finland picture and the other stylist's personable nature makes for a very relaxing, entertaining and overall fabulous salon experience.
Wedding Hair to Die For – I looked for MONTHS for someone who had any idea how to create a spectacular retro "do" for my wedding, using my short and very straight hair. Melissa turned my hair miraculously into a gorgeous, 1950's Marilyn hairdo that everyone at my wedding raved about. She also created beautiful updo's for my neices. Relaxed and highly professional, she had the upmost confidence and skill in what she did. And I know: I "auditioned" several before her!
My search is over...... – I've been in SF for 10+ years...coloring my hair the entire time and AT LAST I have found amazing melissa. I'm very very picky and after seeing Melissa once, I was sold. She knows exactly what fits my personality and hair type. With other colorists I felt I had to monitor and give input but with Melissa, i just sit in the chair quietly and trust her completely. Can't recommend her enough....and the salon staff are great too. Hip without the attitude.
