Great food. I'm reading all these bad-service reviews but my husband and I went when it was empty and had no problems. I had the quinoa bowl, he had the jasmine rice bowl and they both were delicious. We are vegetarians and I get so tired of having to choose between heavy, creamy pasty dishes or bland roasted eggplant and mushrooms -- the array of choices here was dazzling to us.
Lettus disappoint you. I was disappointed with the food, service and quality at this restaurant. My girlfriend and I sat down and were not waited on for about 30 minutes. We were about to get up and leave when a rude waitor came over and grunted at us. We proceeded to wait another 20 minutes for our food. You would think because we waited so long we would be so hungry we'd eat anything. Well, we had the cold Soba Noodles with chicken, the chicken sandwhich and the beet salad - all were sub par and were very bland. I would not recommend this place at all. It is slow and the food isn't good. What more can I say except two thumbs way down.
Fresh, eco-friendly fare in a casual Marina cafe..
The Scene
A cosmopolitan crowd lines up to order at a silver counter backed by white walls and wood shelves showcasing fruit, bread and wine. Above the candlelit bar, a banner-length menu stretches from the entrance to the back of the single-room space, where servers deliver food to diners sitting at wood tables and banquettes cushioned with moss-colored velvet.
The Food
Executive Chef Sascha Weiss boasts an eye-catching resume, including stints with raw-food relic Roxanne's and film director George Lucas (as a personal chef). The plump, roasted beet salad, accompanied by soft clumps of goat cheese, shaved fennel, walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette, could easily be found in any fancy restaurant. Another sweet-and-savory highlight is the open-face crab cake sandwich--served on thin country bread that's spread with garlic aioli and topped with juicy tomatoes and grilled red peppers. Fans of Thai peanut sauce will enjoy the jasmine rice bowl with crisp veggies.
Orgasmic Organic!.
Love this place - healthy dishes, big choice, great atmosphere. Very casual and relaxed. While the staff are lovely, the service could use some work on the efficiency side.
Three thumbs up.
Good food, mostly nice people, slow. They have a great menu and for the most part the service is good- the guy who made my wife's salad was really rude to her when she asked for some extra salad dressing becasue they did not put enough on it. The main downside is they take too long and they bring everyone's food at different times. they are new, so they will hopefully get their act together on the timing.
Don't have to be a Health Nut to Like Lettus. I'm not a health nut, I don't care if my produce is organic and I love Lettus! Everything is fresh and full of flavor. The do serve chicken and fish....no red meat, though. If you are writing this place off as a hippie vegan spot (like I did), I suggest you rethink and give it a shot....you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Dissapointing. This place has the right idea, but strongly misses something. We waited forever to receive our food - salad and sandwich, and when I received my salad it was very unappealing. The sandwich was okay but they overdid it on the goat cheese. I really wanted to like this place, but considering the experience, I don't think I will return.
Slow or Non-existent service. I really wanted to like this place since I go over to that part of town frequently around lunchtime and like to eat healthy but the first time I went in I ordered and paid and 20 minutes had gone by and I still hadnt gotten my salad and juice. Turned out they lost my order. The last time it happened again... and I "reminded" them of my order this time it took 30 minutes to get a simple sandwich and juice (which btw is $18). Both times I have been there I have heard similar complaints from other customers. I gave it a second chance because I like to eat organic but this place doesn't have it together. I will not return.
tasty food. "Tasty food! Cool/hip decor! Just been there for lunch, but hope to stop in after work and try out dinner. The coconut lime noodles are my favorite. Also the various salads ( I've only had one, with beets, but I want to try them all) look really fresh/good quality produce/large portions. The staff has been friendly and accomodating through some confusion of opening--I've been there twice now and really look forward to returning. Just wish there were one closer to home (soma)..."
User review by rahir. i tried this place, hoping things had improved since they opened- well they hadn't. my lemon ricotta were the soggiest things ever. in fact, the insides weren't even cooked. i took them back up to the counter, and they remade them, but this time the outsides were practically burnt and the insides were still too mushy to eat. the tofu scramble was adequate, but not worth the $, and the hot chocolate tasted way too milk and not chocolatey enough. for the price, i would expect a real host and servers and not a number to hold up like a food court. and the wood walls with strange backlighting put me way too on-edge for 9am. honestly, go somewhere else. anywhere else.
