professional, gentle, and NICE. I would never consider seeing anyone else. Maiko is professional, gentle, and very good at what she does. I have received brow, brazilian, and bikini waxes plus brow tinting and facials from her and I recommend every treatment I've had. I would not hesitate to try any of her treatments or to bring anyone I know (including my mother or mother-in-law) to see her. Maiko is very positive and kind. She has never shamed me regarding my lack of use of sunscreen or other inadequate skincare. She has also never tried to sell me any product and has never tried to "upsell" me on any service. If you are a nice person, please see Maiko. If you're a diva, please don't- I like her and I don't want her to have to deal with anyone less nice than she is.

Always a wonderful experience!. Maiko is a true professional - but always warm and willing to answer all sorts of crazy questions! I've always been impressed with everything she has done (brow, brazilian, facial), and while I'm getting married out of town, I'm not taking any risks with people at my wedding locale. Who would when such great, careful and gentle service is available right here!

Personalized and thorough services by Maiko. I am the luckiest and most pampered waxing customer. Leg waxing, I know, who would think of this as a fortunate experience? But Maiko's careful, thorough, and honest service actually makes the experience pleasant. I've been getting this done about 5 years now, and seen a lot of shoddy work: cheap waxes that are painful, bad technique which doesn't remove hair completely, and regrowth resulting in multiple terrible ingrowns. Maiko uses very good quality products. Even with my thicker hair, she gets everything out and I've had only one ingrown. She is attentive and provides the most personalized and professional service for the price. I've been going to Maiko for 6 months now, and now that I've found her, I would not go anywhere else. Another great benefit: she offers many appointment options, and can see me after work in the evenings.

The Best I have found!. Maiko is very professional and gives a very relaxing facial. I have very sensitive skin and her products work great! I drive from Sonoma County to have my facials done by Maiko. She is very careful with my skin and this is important to me.

One of the best facials! My skin feels great.. One of the best facials I've had in a while. Maiko's very gentle and at the same time awesome at getting the blackheads out! I love the products she uses!! She's informative but not chatty...perfect for a very relaxing facial!

For a relaxing and reliable facial.... i've been going to Maiko for roughly a year now while she was over at Gaia Tree. since they closed i was afraid that i would have to travel far to find a different place and aesthetician. i was incredibly relieved to find out that she moved her business right down the road! her new space at Hayes Valley Wellness is still in the process of being done up, but the treatment room looks good, and once she does her thing it's comfortable all around. I suffer from oily skin and frequent breakouts, but i've noticed increased improvements and the natural products she uses have been carefully selected for my sensitive skin. Maiko is easy to talk to, professional, and makes the experience one that i look forward to on a weekly basis! and...let's face it, we can all use a little pampering! Give skincare specialities by maiko a try!

Great experience. I got a facial from Maiko, and the whole experience was great. Maiko really has a great touch - in addition to my skin feeling very smooth, clean and nourished afterwards, the whole process was very relaxing and rejuvenating. All of the products she used on me were natural and seemed very high quality. And in addition to being very easy to talk to and relax around, she's very thorough and professional - she does a consultation beforehand to determine what will work best for you and your needs, and has a bunch of different treatments to choose from. I highly recommend Maiko!

i fell asleep. i had never had a facial before, but my girlfriend bought me a gift certificate to have a facial by maiko. i was very skeptical because i don't like having other people touch me, especially people i don't know. but i have to say it was the most relaxing experience i've had. so relaxing, in fact, that i ended up falling asleep. when i woke up, i felt different - refreshed, i guess you could call it. to be honest, i don't think i "looked" any different, but my girlfriend sure seemed to think i did. :) i never thought i would actually do this, but next time i go back i'm going to pay for it myself.

Great touch and great results!. I have had several facials with Maiko and I think she has a great touch. The results have always been fabulous! So I had to try the manual microderm package and the experience and results were much better than the usual microdermabrasion with the machine. I've had problems with hyper-pigmentation for years and noticed a visible difference after the series of treatments. There were no more loose crystals left on my face or in my hair which was great. I highly recommend Maiko for all your facial needs!

Yummy facial. Just got back from a Pure & Clean facial-- what a soothing experience esp. after this crazy heat wave. And all the cleansers smelled good enough to eat. As I understand it, some of the products like the seaweed mask are actually edible. To be honest, I don't get many facials myself but I found the Gaia Tree a relaxing space and Maiko so professional that I'd go back again.
