The best in San Francisco. I've been craving for a clean and tasty sashimi for a while now but the Japanese stores I frequented served salmon that had an icky taste. Thankfully I found Yuzu, and it redefined Japanese food for me. GOod job! It's the best of the best for me.

It's rare to find a place where every single dish you have keeps topping the next one that arrives. Fortunately for me, and my tummy, I think I've found one!
Yuzu! Wonderfully simple yet elegant food that is as beautiful on the eyes as it is deliciously fabulous on your taste buds. We ordered so many dishes, where to I begin?
Spicy Garlic Edamame (once you try this, you'll never go back to plain edameme again. Slightly sweet and spicy sauce covers this traditional snack favorite)
Goma-ae (chilled spinach with sesame dressing)
Unagi Tempura Salad (Fried unagi served over salad - OMG).
Assorted Tempura (with Black tiger shrimp)
SPECIAL ROLLS AND RAW DISHES:
Hamachi Poke (yellowtail tuna served over jasmine rice - just get this)
Rodeo roll(my favorite of the night. Seared Angus steak slices served over a mango and shiitake tempura roll. Seriously? YUM!)
Soft Shell Crab roll (need I say more?)
Fusion roll (scallops served over a shrimp tempura and unagi roll, with pistachio and a garlic aioli)
Green Dragon roll - special for the night, no idea what was in it, but it's topped with fresh avocado.
And one of the favorites of the evening (sorry, forgot the name) - fresh salmon rolled and topped with a special sauce and a slice of jalapeno, served on a delicate endive leaf. Beautiful.

DESSERT (Yes, we actually had room for dessert this time, barely):
Sorbet Trio - Pom pomegranate, lemon-ginger, and chocolate-lavender
Creme Brulee Trio - green tea, vanilla bean, and ginger
Mochi Ice Cream Sampler - blueberry, peach, and chocolate-mint.
Sound good? I know it does. Does it make you hungry? Then get down to Yuzu!!! Really nice and comfortable atmosphere, friendly service, reasonable prices, and a menu where you just want to say, "I'll have one of everything."
YUMMY YUMMY - Great place to hang out. I recently came to this yummy resturant with a friend. It was amazing! We ordered the green bean tempura fries that were too die for!!! You must try the spicy edamane - I have never had it like this -very tasty. The fusion & soft shell crab rolls are a must try. If you like prawns - get the tiger prawns - they melt in your mouth!!! The drinks we ordered were super yummy - the cucumber limeade & the pink bubbles. It was so good that we decided to bring our friends & make it a girls night out place to eat and drink and be merry! I almost forgot - the dessert is amazing - the trio sorbets are very tasty especially the apple flavor....thinking about it makes me want to run over right now! this place is better than the other sushi places in the marina
Great quality sushi but at a price.
I don't mean to be a sushi snob, but heck maybe i am. We don't partonize those boat type sushi joints unless my 3 year old daughter is having her fit. With that being said, we ordered off the 'today's specials' list. Aji (spanish mackarel, hirame (founder) and kampachi (amberjack) were on there so we tried some. Portion wise, the cuts were ok, enough to cover the rice. Not like the sizes we are used to at Sushi Bistro. The aji wasn't the best I've had, so as for it being on the specials list it was a little stretch. The hirame was good, and he did a little thing with some rock salt, lemon and daikon that was really nice. As far as rolls go, we had the Fusion roll. Different taste and good as well. I would recommend this roll. Scallop with shrimp tempura and avocado mixed with other goodies. YUM. The ankimo tataki was way over priced although had excellent presentation. Whatever you do, don't get the 'chef's choice sampler sushi'. Its just your typical sushi sampler, that you don't need a chef to decide what's in it. It had your staples - octopus, shrimp, salmon, tuna, amberjack and egg. Why would a chef choose those aside from them being your calmer sampler of sushi.
For drinks my wife tried the shochu sampler. 3 different types of shochu. Kinda like sake but made from barley instead of rice. I had a Japanese imported beer that I never saw in any sushi/Japanese restaurant here or in the US for that matter. The beer was good, smooth yet a little wheaty.
In the end, we ate quite a bit, but paid a hefty price for it. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give Yuzu a 7.5.
Inventive Rolls and Great Japanese Beers!. Even though we ate early (literally AS they opened at 6) in an entirely empty dining room, this place was great! Our waitress was excellent and her suggestions were spot on. All of the rolls were unique and delicious, especially the one that had sun-dried tomatoes in it, though I must admit I forgot the name. I also highly recommend that you try the Hitachino Nest White Ale. Besides coming in the cutest bottle ever, it's also my all time favorite beer, a nice white ale with notes of coriander and orange zest. They have daily drink specials, I believe we were there on a Tuesday and the second beer was half price or something. Altogether a delightful experience in a chic space with delicious food AND drink!
The Ultimate Sushi Experience Ever. Simply 2nd to none..
I was about to go to Nake Fish around the corner since that's one of the sushi place I usually go when I crave for sushi. But then, I wanted to try somewhere different for a change and decided to give Yuzu a try since it's nearby. The places wasn't crowed and kinda hidden away from the busier Chestnut street and next to a bar. And I heard pretty good review of this place, but didn't know too much about them.
The staffs are very friendly and she can remember all my orders without even writing it down. At first, I thought she'll forget and I'll end up with incorrect orders, But boy, was I wrong. She could remember it better than I could. Service was prompt and attentive and they never rush you.
As for the food, the sushi are out of this world. Presentation was excellent and refreshing. I actually liked it more than Nake Fish now. Their rolls are very creative and looks as good as it taste, such an eye candy. We had the scallop and it was made to perfection. Then we also had the blue fin tune toro which was ordered by mistake, but we didn't regret it all. It was simply the freshest, sweetest, and tastyest sushi I ever had. The only thing I would wish for is if it were slightly cheaper, but still worth every penny of it.
super-fresh, original, delicious sushi never disappoints!!. My friends and I have come to crave a night a Yuzu... we just can't go more than a couple of weeks without it. It's true that you don't need soy or wasabi on the maki because the sauces and flavors are perfect. Favorites are the green dragon-- avocado and eel with a drizzle of sweet sauce-- the sake salmon sushi (lemony, smoky, fresh and amazing) and the hamachi sashimi-- unbelievably good fish that melts in your mouth with velvety texture. The sakis are good, the beer is good, and we love our waitress Jackie!! She is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and boys (or girls too I guess!), she's also gorgeous. Can't say it enough. LOVE LOVE LOVE Yuzu and can't understand why it's not mobbed every night.
fast service good food. The atmosphere is nice. The food at Mas Sake (around the corner) is better, but this place is quieter and easier to get into on a weekend.
Good people + stellar sushi = Great night. There is finally a better sushi place to go to than the options that are currently in the marina. Yuzu is the most authentic sushi place in the marina area, and one of my new favorite places. The service is spot on, the servers are friendly and helpful and the service is timely. The bartender makes excellent drinks and really knows her sake and is helpful for sake newbies. Definately the place to go to sit at the bar and try new sakes! The food is really tasty and authentic, especially the miso fish. Ask for the chef's selection and she will make you an array of her favorite sushi, its to die for! FINALLY, a stellar sushi place with a great atmosphere in the marina.
Freshest Sushi, Quality, Ambiance, Wow....
Wow, this is now my fave sushi spot! Their attention to detail, the quality of the seafood, how perfectly the sauces are paired with sushi, sashimi, and carpaccio dishes is pure perfection. They tell you that you don't really need wasabi and soy sauce because of the carefully crafted sauces, and man, it's true!
faves: Otoro, Uni, Uni tempura, soft shell crab roll, miso black cod (just melts in your mouth), infused rice, hamachi carpaccio, and eek, all the desserts! Shochu and sake cocktails were intriguing and yummy, but the best was the Japanese microbrew white ale beer! Sake selection is killer too, especially their tasting flights with tasting notes.
caution: weekends can get busy, make reservations! And the food is best enjoyed family style. When it gets busy, dining is a bit more "leisurely" if you know what I mean... but so worth it!
