Great Food/Service. We happened upon Piazza Pellegrini after a long bike ride and decided to grab dinner. Sat on the street for great big city atmosphere. Server was prompt, friendly and very accommodating to our culinary peculiarities. Food was exceptional, hot and perfectly presented. Veal was most tender ever and shrimp/scallops were out of this world. Great prices/service. Definitely on our list when visiting San Francisco.
very satisfied. We ate out front on a very warm night and the experience was great. It overlooks the park but is not on the busiest section of columbus so there's not tons of people walking all around your table. The wait staff was on top of everything, water always filled, drinks and appetizers served prompt. We both had one of their specials and were both very happy with our food. The prices were very good as well, lots of tasty, good quality food for not very much at all. Will definitely be recommending this place to friends.
bad experience. My boyfriend and I went for dinner at Piazza Pelligrini and were very dissappointed. The waitstaff was unattentive, the food was overcooked, and the menu was overpriced. I would not reccomend anyone to go to this restaurant.
Authentic Italian, fresh ingredients, reasonable prices. We went to Piazza Pellegrini for the first time, this weekend, and we were not disappointed as we often are when we go out in North Beach. Unlike the numerous tourist traps on columbus, this place was fantastic! We both tried salads/starters, main courses, and dessert, and everything was delicious. There are plenty of veggie options, too, if you're vegetarian. The wine list was reasonably priced -- the wine we had was under $35 and was excellent. For dessert, don't miss the flourless chocolate cake - yum ! We'll be going back soon !
Not just for tourists. Finally more quality Italian food in NB.. Ive ordered the bruschetta all three times I have been and love the mushrooms! It makes the appetizer stand-out from the basics most places serve. The wine is reasonably priced. The pasta serving sizes are reasonable (not huge) and have quality ingredients. The penne with sausage was a nice comfort food in a light wine sauce. The espresso was excellent after my meal. Best cup since I got back from Europe. The staff has ALWAYS been patient and attentive. The noise level gets a bit high when the tables are full, but I guess thats the case in most restaurants.
Great restaurant overall!. The service was terrific, the owner very friendly, the food delicious, and the dessert was amazing! We had a big group and really enjoyed all the food especially the bruchetta, the pappardelle pellegrini, and the afogatto for dessert. You simply must go! We'll definitely keep coming back!
Finally some good Italian food in NB. I've passed by Piazza Pellegrini, which is across from Washington Sq. park in the old Frankies location, a bunch of times before I finally went in. I'm glad I did. I thought it was exceptional. They have a teriffic, well balanced menu, and you can tell they use nothing but the freshest ingredients. The ravioli is really good, as was the italian sausage and salmon. Very attentive staff, and the owner, I believe his name is Dario, is nive and very friendly. I used to think Trattoria Contadina had the best food italian in NB. Not anymore.
Best Italian food in SF!. Great food, staff and atmosphere! Very reasonably priced. For an authentic Italian experience, Pellegrini is the spot.
A neighborhood local's choice for good Italian in North Beach..
In Short
Reasonable prices and above-average quality mark this attractive trattoria, where the pasta is made by hand and the restaurant uses its own brand of olive oil. A gleaming exhibition kitchen presides over the romantic, triangular dining room that features golden tablecloths, striped chairs and a long, polished wooden bar. Service is refined yet warm and welcoming. Fresh fish, meat and poultry dishes represent flavors from across Italy's culinary regions, including rustic choices such as rabbit and cornish hen.
