Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of SF. Excellent service, very clean and fanciful rooms. Top notch service. Happy hour on Fridays from 5-6 pm Wine and Beer. Excellent boutique hotel in the stylish Downtown/SOMA area of San Francisco

Nice clean room but where's the breakfast. I actually liked this hotel a lot, and would even recommend it to anyone who asked. The only reason I didn't give them the highest rating was because of the lack of breakfast service in any meaningful way. The restaurant is closed so they have breakfast hidden down a non-descript hallway on the sixth floor. Basically, it was a weak attempt to make up for the lack of service during the renonvation of the restaurant. Otherwise, the hotel was clean, the staff very helpful and friendly, the location perfect for downtown business. All great! Within a few months I am sure they'll be back to a 5-star place for me.

Daring design in a historic Union Square building.. The Scene
This boutique hotel brings a whimsical flair to the 1908 landmark building it inhabits. It offers an original alternative to the traditional Union Square lodgings.

The Details
Guests are welcomed into an eccentrically decorated lobby where the friendly staff hosts a wine and cheese reception each evening. Accommodations showcase contemporary design, with leopard skin-patterned carpeting, animal-print fabrics and furnishings with clean, bold lines. Themed rooms include the Renee Magritte Suite, with a cloud-painted ceiling, and several rooms designed for tall guests with longer-than-average beds. The hotel lacks a swimming pool, but the hot tub is perfect for warming up after a night out in the foggy city.

My first time, but definetly not my last!. This was my first visit to S.F.. Hotel Palomar was everything that I could have wanted and more. The entire staff that I came in contact with was professional and personable. I will stay there again without hesitation. My compliment to the hotel manager all the way down the line to the house keepers!!!

Awful Experience for Friend's Wedding Night. The Hotel Palomar ruined my friend's wedding night this past Saturday. They knew this was for a wedding night, and authorization was given to reserve the room as a gift.

When my friends arrived at the hotel around midnight, the staff had them take a look at the room available. It was a conference room, with 6 chairs, a table and a pullout sofa. There was no bed or amenities.

This was unacceptable, but the hotel had overbooked. They tried calling their sister properties, but nothing was open and my friends were left in the lobby for over an hour.

Eventually, they found a hotel room in SAN JOSE. The couple drove an hour to spend their wedding night together and didn't check-in until 2:30 am.

I will never use this hotel again. Please be careful if you are considering a stay at the Hotel Palomar for a special occasion.

very nice hotel. Hotel is beautiful and very well kept. Staff is friendly and helpful, ameneties are great. Don't order room service, though, it comes from the diner around the corner - you can get the food for half the price there.

Wonderful Experience. We booked the Hotel Palomar through a travel site and got a great deal on a room! We loved our stay here! The room was great. The staff was excellent! They made reservations for us at a restaurant where we wanted to have dinner and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Very friendly! They made us feel very pampered! Perfect location too!!! Very close to a cable car station (which we took everywhere). Also a ton of shopping right outside the door! Very close to Union Square too! If we can get a great deal again....we'll be back!!!

Great 1st Anniversary Getaway. We live in SF and came to the Palomar to celebrate our anniversary. We had found a discount rate on a travel website and were expecting to be given a small room. To our surprise we were upgraded (without asking) to a room on the top floor with a king bed and jacuzzi tub! The friendliness of the staff really made our whole stay. The hotel's restaurant, The Fifth Floor, is said to be one of the city's very best. It is also one of the city's most pricey. We stopped in for a late night dessert and enjoyed the bar. Aveda bath products are an extra nice touch!
