My overall shopping experience at Sphere wasn't bad - no one was rude or curt, but the sofa did take about 2 weeks longer than it was supposed to, and when it arrived, it had the wrong legs on it. The correct legs took another couple weeks to arrive. The sofa is great - comfortable, cool-looking, with nice leather. I also bought 2 benches and 2 chairs - the finish on these pieces leaves a lot to be desired. They all began chipping almost immediately due to a very weak veneer finish. They're heavy, which gives the impression of being durable, but the surfaces scratches if you breathe on it. I got them in chocolate, and underneath the dark coat is a very light, soft wood which has shown up all over the pieces like the worst case of chicken pox you've ever seen. I am happy with the leather seating surfaces, though - it's thick and comfortable; too bad the wood isn't the same. All in all, I say 3 stars - the sofa I'd give a 4 or 5; the chairs and benches would get a 2. Side note - I'm a little leary that 2 of the 5-star glowing reviews come from users with only one review each - seems a little fishy...

My experience with this business was similar to the first reviewers but it seems so much worse... I have never EVER received service as poor as I did from Nick and Michelle. Not only did they not deliver my couch when they told me they would, but they didn't even bother to call to apologize or schedule a new time. I had to call them to do that. And take 2 - the couch didn't showed up again. I had to call to ask where it was. When it finally did come (over an hour late), the delivery guy actually told me that Nick had told him to load everything into the truck to prepare for the following week BEFORE making my delivery to the East Bay - which means that he KNEW that my delivery would be late, but obviously didn't value my business enough to even call and let me know about the delay. Which I would have been completely understanding about had he done so! I was also spoken to very harshly when I brought up my frustration. I am a soft spoken person, so I was competely taken aback by an utter lack of professionalism or even just plain decency- I mean, if you are a business owner and you make a mistake, shouldn't you at least apologize with sincerity for your error? Maybe they thought crediting me the delivery charge meant that I should be grateful. I was so appalled that months later, the experience still makes me feel nauseous to recall. I think their product is a decent value, but I will never set foot in their store again - there are plenty of places to buy good quality furniture for great prices in a place like the Bay Area.
Cons: service....my goodness...could it get any worse...
