Great music... – I went this past Friday night. I planned on meeting friends for a round of drinks, then bouncing somewhere else. But the music was so good that we ended up staying...they didn't close til 3 am! I'd go again...sexy music, good service, and a fun, down 2 earth crowd...met sum cool folks!
Fun Spot.... – My friends and I had our birthday party here two Saturdays ago. We rented the VIP Lounge upstairs and had a fabulous time. It is one of the best VIP areas I've seen in a myriad of the clubs I've been to in S.F. A lot of room and comfortable booths to sit...even a bed if you want to lounge with your friends. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodated our needs. the music was perfect (hip hop, reggae and dance hall) and got the party moving. they even have speakers in the VIP Lounge so you can hear what is going on without having to go to the dance floor which was quite crowded on this particular night. The main room with the bar is cool too and the booths lining the wall are comfortable and provide an excellent way to see and be seen. I'll definitely be returning to Duplex for other parties (they have different music different nights of the week), as I love the intimate lounge atmosphere which is more typical of NYC then here in S.F. I suggest you check it out too--I don't think you'll be disappointed!
DO NOT GO HERE!! – We are not weird people that get in altercations, but this place treated us so rudely that I want to spread the word to others to never go to this place!. My girlfriend was approached by one of the bouncers at 1:30 am ( with other people around us with drinks in their hand) and coped and attitude about her finishing her drink, tore the beer out of her hand, spilt it on her and then spilt the beer on the floor. Mind you, my friend was not intoxicated, was not causing trouble, and was simply talking to another friend of ours in a corner of the bar. Completely unnecessary behavior on the bouncer's part. When we went to complain to the manager, he gave us even more attitude, gave us the beer money back and told us to get the f--k out of his bar. I cannot belive we were treated in this manner. Again, we are normal people, two women, not causing any trouble , trying to have a good evening. We have never been treated so disrespectufully by anybody. There's not much I can do other than warn others that this place is run by inept, rude and unprofesional people and they do not deserve your business. STAY AWAY!
Hot Spot!!! – I found a new hot spot last Sat night. We started off at Levende lounge was so so, and we ventured three blocks to Duplex, I have been hearing about it and never been. Pleasantly surprise it was really cool. Lots of cuties that night, including the staffs! They were very friendly which is not too easy to find in the club industry. Everyone was dancing and the place was open after hours and it waas still happening when we left around 3 am. Definitely recommend it, my new hot spot!
Old crowd – Duplex had a very old crowd on Saturday night! And this is coming for someone who's 37! Most people were in their 40s, 50s & even 60s! I expected a Euro-chic venue, but noticed from the moment I entered that it was full of oldies! I went with a group of people and we unfortunately went in without sending one person to scope it out - I highly recommend you do this before committing to it. It's a shame though... the venue is cute, the music good, and the bartenders friendly. However, I won't be going back until I hit 50!
Dead Fast on Sat Night – I was just there tonight (Saturday) and the place went dead fast. The only people sustaining the place was the vip table upstairs that brought in the gorup of 20+. The staff is extremely nice and friendly, but by 12:30 there was virutally no one in the general public area. The dance floor area is small and they charge cover. I would not recommend going here as there is nothing within walking distance if you decide to change venues.
Sleek bar and club in SoMa attracts a Gucci-toting, blazer-wearing, jet-set crowd. – The Scene
Red lighting, exposed brick walls, and lofty ceilings make for a sophisticated yet minimalist vibe. A long mahogany bar runs the length of the front room while plush white couches and candlelit tables fill up the rest of the space. A large, vintage-style mirror and computer graphics projected on flowing drapes hang over the bar. A back room dance floor fits up to 100 comfortably while a different DJ spins nightly. Stairs lead to a sectioned-off VIP room and skywalk that lets stylish, moneyed patrons peek at the action below.
Friendly bartenders serve up the standard mixed drinks, wine and beer along with some rarities like French beer Kronenbourg 1664 or Saint-James coconut-infused rum. Bar-hoppers with money to burn drop big bucks on bottle service in the private lounge upstairs. Music changes depending on the night and ranges from Latin- or Mediterranean-influenced house to '70s and '80s disco.
Le Duplex - SF's hottest new club – Once again, the Frenchies have proven to own and operate some of the coolest stuff in the city. Hidden off the beaten path, Le Duplex is located in SOMA, on Mission Street, right off of 11th.
My favorite French friends in all the city, Antoine Crumeyrolle, Sami Elabed & Raphael Coeffic, have opened their new venture with some of the city's hottest dj's spinning weekly, including Frenchy le Freak, Donovan and my favorite DJ Rachel every other Sat.
This is an amazing new venue, featuring an enormous art deco bar, 18-ft ceilings and soaring exposed brick walls. Above, a wrap-around catwalk leads to an intimate lounge for VIP guests, bottle service and special events. But most importantly, these guys know how to treat their guests! The service cannot be beat!
Great place for a drink – Nice space and great staff. I'll come back anytime with my friends!
Last Friday Night – This past fiday must have been the best party in the city! DJ's Frenchy and Donavan were great and the crowd was perfect! This club is not huge and can get tight when crowded but I feel it is better that way as you are able to meet and see everyone. We sat upstairs which I would recommened if you can spend the extra $$$ for bottle services...it was a great way to chill with our crew. Everyone is happy and friendly at this club from the door men to the customers.
