Good food in the Richmond. This quaint restaurant is a couple blocks from our apartment, so we finally decided to try it last Friday. The service was very good. As soon as we walked in, several servers/staff greeted us, and we were seated promptly (we made reservations). We had a romantic table by the window. I noticed there were larger groups as well, making this place great for a variety of occasions. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the tomato heirloom salad, and both of our entrees- tofu and shitake mushroom and steak. I thought the peach panna cotta was so-so, but my husband devoured it. Overall, I would recommend for the food and service.
Maybe it was an off night. First off what constitutes a wine bar. This place has a 2 top table and a few stools at the bar. It was very cramped. Is that a wine bar? OK, the food was good, very good but small portions. Service was barely acceptable. We had to ask for pepper. Twice. We purchased a bottle of wine and the waiter never came back to refresh our glasses. The service left a lot to be desired. Maybe it was an off night.
5 star restaurant. Everything about this place was incredible. Service and food were top notch, and you can't beat the prices. So nice to have a 5 star restaurant out here in the Richmond district- a nice change from the usual haunts. We've sent all our friends and everyone has loved it as much as we did- we will definitely be back.
Best dining experience in years!. Simply fabulous. The food was simply divine and the service was friendly and spot on. I had the arctic char and $19 and an amazing Pinot Noir at $25 a bottle. At these prices you should dine here often. The deserts and appetizers were amazing as well and they even comped us a glass of wine at the mini bar while we waited for a table. Dining nirvana.
Great food at a nice neighborhood spot. The Richmond offered a really nice night out. The restaurant itself is quite small, but very charming. The wine list was a little pricey, but our waiter helped us locate a decently priced bottle which was quite tasty. The food was great, with some really interesting appetizers, including a ridiculously good (but SO rich) potato leek soup. Another member of our party had a tomato salad as a starter, but it just so-so. Our main courses were spectatcular, and perpared to perfection. Every member of our party was very pleased. The port-braised chicken was excellent, and the New York steak was superb. Also, make sure not to miss out on the very creative desserts! The prices were very acceptable--about $200 for a group of 4, where each of us had a appetizer, main course, we split a bottle of wine, and shared 2 desserts. Highly recommended. Oh, parking is a DISASTER around the restaurant, so plan ahead.
The most extraordinary service I've had in SF. We had no expectations prior, and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of service and the food. The wine list is eclectic/interesting, with a wide range of prices and tastes so you are bound to find something you'll like. A nice touch: The waiter poured a drop of our wine into his own glass and toasted us together. Instead of bread and regular butter, you get three different blended butters to try - and the tray was replenished after we ate through the first serving. A salmon paste button sandwitch (my description) appeared between courses and was delicious. I had the manicotte (sp?) and my wife had the halibut (as did our friends) - all fantastic and full of different flavors. The waiter was very attentive and considerate. The food arrive hot and timely. In general, one of the best experiences I've had in SF.
HORRIBLE SERVICE DO NOT COME HERE. This place is terrible! I took my girlfriend here for her birthday, I asked the waiter if there is anything special they can do. He said, "oh i'll just stick a candle in something" then when it was time to serve the bread, the waiter had the nerve to say, "move it" (in reference to her napkin) The service was also very slow on a thursday night. When we emailed the owners, they never replied to us. DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Neighborhood Gem. This place is ALL about the food. It's a welcome relief to have dinner at a restaurant and feel like you're paying for great food and service instead of hype and trend. We had a lovely meal - The Richmond is to be highly recommended - truly, a fine dining experience. I'm still thinking about the delicious blue cheese crepe that came with my steak. Fabulous! And, did I mention the service? Stellar.
Our New Favorite Haunt. We tried this wonderful new resturant this evening based on the location and the 14 wonderful reviews. WE WILL BE EATING HERE REGUALARY! The service was wonderful and the food incredible. From the starters to the entrees, we were impressed. This little gem is an amazing place. The wine list needs work, but not a problem in CA when we are lucky enough to bring in our own wine.
good services except for forgotten birthday. I took my husband out to dinner here on Dec. 1. We had a great time except that our waiters forgot my husband's birthday dessert, which I had requested in advance. I was intrigued by this because the manager said he would comp a birthday dessert. When we arrived, however, the waiter moved my husband's gifts out of the way without comment. When we finished dinner, I expected the dessert and a "happy birthday", but again there was no acknowledgment. Overall, however, we had a great time. The food was good, and the waiters paid fairly good attention to other finer details like placing the coffee cups with handles at 3 o'clock, replacing silverware, although we ran out of water and bread was not offered to be replenished until we had finished our appetizers.
