The Scene – Neighborhood locals and in-the-know foodies fill two snug dining rooms that boast high ceilings, mustard-hued walls and white linen-draped tables. Waitstaff offer top-notch service sans pretension, and are as comfortable discussing the merits of mint emulsion as helping customers choose from the small but spectacular wine list, which covers everything from $20 options to rare, $300-plus bottles. – – The Food – Impeccably presented, imaginative dishes made with seasonal, organic ingredients elevate this casual boite to fine dining levels. Editor's Tips

Save Money:
The menu's best bargain is surely the massive, half-pound hamburger, which comes smothered in Vermont Cabot cheddar and fontina cheese, with anchiote ketchup, mustard aioli and fries on the side.
The Extras:
Even the bread and butter here gets dressed up: A sliced mini-baguette arrives with three kinds of house-made spread: herb, kalamata olive and sea salt.

Too Busy

by terry Collins at Citysearch

5 of us went to dinner there Wednesday and had a great meal.

My wife and I (wel leave in the neighborhood) went back this evening, set at the bar, and had another fine meal.

Unfortunately, when I asked them about a reservation for tomorrow (friday) night they said they were too busy to talk to me about it and to call in at some unspecified later time.

So much for encouraging repeat business!

i guess due to its location, which works great for me as i live down the street, this place tends to draw a a crowd from the hood.

i couldnt be happier. i can always get in and i always have a great meal. certainly a nice night out place to eat and worth every penny. Great service as well

A Superb Dining Experience

by abertawe at Citysearch

My wife and I have been to The Richmond several times, and it never fails to deliver on all counts: 1. terrific food; 2. ambience; 3. service befitting a high-end restaurant; and 4. value for money. If there were anything negative to mention, I would .. but there really isn't. My only other comment is that The Richmond isn't what I'd call a family restaurant, so I'd suggest getting a sitter for the evening. The Richmond is the perfect destination for a romantic dinner or a quality dining experience with friends.

  • Pros: Ambience, Service, Food, Allows for Quiet Evening without Children
  • Cons: Not suitable for large groups, parking

Going Down Hill

by sflove at Citysearch

Everytime we go it gets worse and worse. Although seating might be quick the service is horrible. It takes forever to get your drinks and the food is slow to come out of the kitchen. I noticed last time we went the kitchen decided to put green oil on every dish that we had. The chef or someone came out to clear our plates and the first thing I noticed was the dirt under his finger nails...ew! There are some good dishes such as the braised ox tail over scallops and braised short ribs, but the short ribs were no longer on the menu. The price for 2-people was way over priced for the type of amature service and none to great food. Hopefully they can turn it around.

  • Cons: parking, service and quality of food
