What People Are Saying About Pizzeria Delfina

The front sidewalk flutters with conversation from two tables and good-looking folks sipping wine while waiting to be seated. Inside, stools line an oak counter overlooking a clean white and steel kitchen where cooks twirl dough. In the near corner, a table is tucked next to an oak banquette with space for a dozen. Above the seating, a mirror reflects the room's constant activity and a chalkboard showcases the menu. Reggae and spacey rock wafts in the background. In addition to a daily entree prepared in Delfina's kitchen next door, thin pizzas with spongy, crunchy crusts are the specialties.…

Editor's Tips

Parking:
Starting at 5:30pm, there are spaces available at Cherin's Appliance (Valencia and 18th Streets).
What to Drink:
Italian wines and a few bottled beers are available, including seldom-seen Sudwerk, brewed in Davis, California.
Know Before You Go:
Reservations are not accepted. Arrive early, put your name on the chalkboard and head to a nearby watering hole if there's a lengthy wait. Call the restaurant 10 minutes before you're supposed to be seated; the space holds 30 people and delays can happen.

This is my pizza go to!

by jtfwall at Citysearch

I miss it if I haven't been in more than a few weeks. The staff is great, the food is solid. Just all around a perfect night... but if you are looking for uppity and so forth... go elsewhere. This is a relaxed and fun place and the food matches that exact sentiment.

Excellent food and fun vibe

by pprichard , Citysearch Contributor at Citysearch

This is for the California St. location. Pizzeria Delfina has made me a pizza snob - I can't go anywhere else. They don't take reservations and it's a popular place, so go before 6:30 if you don't want to wait. It's a small restaurant so hard for groups, but perfect for 2 or 4. Everything on the menu is good, but the meatballs are amazing. The only con I have (I really don't mind waiting for good food) is that they play loud music on top of an already-loud restaurant. OK, that might sound like a grandmother comment, but I do enjoy conversation while I eat. But don't let that scare you away, the pizza and vibe are worth the visit!

  • Pros: Hand-stretched mozzarella, need I say more?
  • Cons: Long wait, loud music

The BEST pizza I've ever eaten.

by Calguy at Citysearch

I've eaten a lot of pizza at many different pizza joints in several states. Ocassionally, I will come across a very good pizza, but most are average. Pizzeria Delfina is exceptional. I had heard about this place getting high reviews from pizza connoiseurs, so I thought to give it a try. Hands down, this is the best pizza(margherita) I've ever had. My wife ordered a calzone which was very good. We now make the 30 mile drive from Fremont once a month so we can enjoy this great pizza.

  • Pros: Freshness of ingredients
  • Cons: lack of parking; nothing new in San Francisco.
