The Bouncers Shakedown (Theft) â?¦ Please Read..
I purchased tickets in advance to attend the New Year’s Eve party 2012. I paid approximately $240 for three tickets. Upon arrival to Impala, we waited patiently in line for 30 minutes on an incline verses the flat sidewalk on Broadway. After a comprehensive search, we were granted admission. We were advised the VIP with the open bar was downstairs. This room, is 1/3 the size of the upstairs area and occupied with sofa, chairs, bar, and dance floor. There was 200+ customers to 3 Bartenders. The average wait time was 25 minutes for a drink and you couldn’t take it upstairs to the other dance floor. At 11:30, we moved to the smoking area, located outside in front of the club.
While, I was smoking my medicine (cannabis), I was observed by several SFO Police Officers. A customer from Impala, stumbled out the door and vomited into the street in front of the Police. He sat down on the sidewalk and his friends told the Police he was okay.
While this is going on, I didn’t know I was being watched by Impala’s Bounces. I had no clue they coming up with a plan to STEAL my medicine. The guy that was just vomiting and guests, were readmitted before my party WITHOUT being searched. The mix female bouncer who was searching purses, asked my wife, ”Did you save one for me?’, after searching her purse twice. Then, searched her girlfriend’s purse breaking her cigarettes. My back is to the club and I’m facing the street. At this time, the Mexican American, 6ft3in with black hair is patting me down. With a delay to my right pans pocket where my keys are located. Then, I turn around and he asked me about something in my top suit coat pocket. I looked at the doorway and my party was gone. I told him, “My cigar box.”. He said, “He needed to see it.”. I pulled it out. He said “Open it.”. He took it out of my hand passed it to the African American man 5ft5in. He said,” I cant have it in there.” and put it into his pocket. I told him he couldn’t take my medicine and he turn his back. I went into the club and got my guest. I was back outside in less than one minute. I asked the African American bouncer for my cigar box and told him I was leaving. He ignored me. I asked for his name and he ignored me. I asked to speak to a Manager. He ignored me. When, my wife wanted to re-enter the club he told her No. I told him she has to claim her coat. While she was inside, I pleaded my case with another bouncer, Samoan 5ft7in, He stated, He should give that back to you, but he walks into the club only after speaking to the African American bouncer who had my cigar box. Which contained approximately $200 of pre-rolled cannabis cigars.
To have my medicine stole, by the bouncers who are paid to protect the patrons, is disgusting. I put nothing past this establishment. Example: Theft. I was never given the option to leave, with my property.
was very pleased with this place! the manager sean was really nice and the food was suprisingly nice.
afterwards we hung out for the night club the music was great! it was kinda of hard to get into the vip room, but sean helped us get in.
I'm glad we could make your night! Please call 415 982 5299 and we would love to put you on the list for v.i.p. access
Overpriced Food & Bad Service. If your on broadway and just want an overpriced small pour cocktail then the decor here is cool. The VIP Hostess is AWESOME! However, that was not enough to save this venue for me. Food is standard quality but way too overpriced! $23 for 6 grilled shrimp on skewars! Do not eat dinner here! And if you try to have dinner late, the manager will come kick you out of your table as soon as you finish to make room for the VIP tables for the night.
We just had a menu change. Please come in for dinner and we guarantee your will have a change in heart!
Please call 415 982 5299 for a reservation.
I had no idea. I went to Impala expecting typical, sloppy, mexican food...that's not what we got. We got amazing food that I would expect to only get at restaurants like Michael Mina and Gary Danko. We ordered a NY strip special and my husband ordered the Salmon and both were amazing!!!! We were suprised to see so many raw dishes on the appetizers as well as a choice of a couple ceviches. The drinks were okay and the wine list was average. Don't expect four star service, but our server was very nice.
We just changed our wine list and our specialty cocktails!
We?ve got some great new additions
Please call 415 982 5299 and let us treat you to?grown up lemonade", a saffron tequila martini or an infused watermelon martini.
wow what a place.. great food, beautiful staff, and more fun than i've ever had in san franciso..
Being from Las Vegas, I havn't been able to find a good place to dine that also offers a excellent lounge. This place was perfect. All the beautiful people in San Franciso must of been there.
The food was very tasty, the presentation was great, and the service was timely and courteous.
After dinner we stayed and purchased a bottle downstairs in their VIP lounge. This has got to be the hottest lounge in San Francisco. Red lights and candles surrounded the room. The sound system was perfect.
Their were two DJs, spinning both upstairs and downstairs they offered a variety of music.
For all you San Franciscans looking for the Vegas experience I higly recomend Impala

Most creative mexican food EVER!!!!!!.
WOW!!! My dinner at impala started with the best chips, salsa, and guacamole in the city. I had the tuna tartare with plantains, and my friend had the gordita... the tuna was impeccably fresh, and came with a pomegranate sauce, I wanted to try the gordita; but my friend devowerd it before I could get my hands on it. I ordered local halibut off the chefs "special menu" that is hand written daily, it came with mango and peanut salsa and coffee oil. My friend ordered the sloppy jose (a cute little play on a sloppy joe). Both entrees were absolutely perfect. The chef came out and talked to our table for a little bit which made the meal (the young chefs good looks were reason enough to go back)
Impala is one, if not the, best restaurant in the city!!!
Who are you kidding?. Every time I go to Impala, people are debating with bouncers about why a friend cant be let in. Group parties are forced to break up because one or two friends wanted to wear sandals out on one of the view warm evenings in SF. Impala has a dress code that does not waiver and could give a damn about the overall good time of a group party that would have otherwise stayed all night and dropped serious cash (maybe even fell for bottle service - $275 to get a table and bottle, then an additional 1 bottle minimum per 4 people in your party. 5 of us are supposed to pound two bottles of vodka. I suppose they would have kicked us out by the end of the evening for being too drunk from all the alcohol we were required to consume).
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment, and we are sorry that your party did have to break up since that is not our intention. We hope to see you back again soon!
Still not sure?.
The chips they brought us were to salty everyone was wiping the chips off before eating them, our mojitos were just disgusting they tasted like we were chewing on mint leaves; I tried another drink that had patron in it & this drink was gross too, I gave up on their drink & started drinking Coronas.
The empanadas were really good, the beef enchilada was ground beef that came looking like a tostadas this was ok. The chicken tacos were really really dry. The Mexican rice was still hard where you could tell they didn't cook it long enough & it lacked flavor. The steak was ok... I wish the server came around enough so we could order more items & drinks, the busers were move helpful. I wish the experience was better I really like the atmosphere on the people & restaurant.

New Groundbreaking Menu. My wife and I just visited Impala to try their new menu. I was, to say the least, ecstatic about the new options. The menus look incredible to begin with; and with its added depth I had trouble choosing from all the choices. We shared all our apps and entrees and after devouring the flan I was finally satisfied. Everything was excellent, the service was phenomenal; we can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
Make sure to give us a call at 415.982.5299 so we can send you a coupon for your next visit to Impala!
Can't even make a reservation!. We were visitng from NYC and someone recommended this new restaurant to us. we called on two separate occasions and were unable to speak directly with someone to make a reservation for later that evening. A recorded message instructs you to leave your cellphone number, how many in your party and when you would like to make a resrevation for. The message states that someone will call you right bak. We didn't receive a return phone call until the following day after we had were picking up luggage in the NYC airport. Who wants to eat a place that won't even answer the phone?!?!?!
Thak you for your review. We are very sorry that you had such an unfortunate experience we would have loved to have you in for dinner! Because of this review we are definitely going to be checking our messages more and make sure that we call everyone back on time. If you are ever back in town please feel free to give us a call at 415.956.3554 so we can send you a card for 10% off your next meal.
