Editorial Review for Bistro Boudin – by Citysearch Staff
The Scene
Up two flights of stairs, the dining room sits on the top floor of a sprawling warehouse. A vaulted ceiling looms over an open kitchen, a row of banquettes, a set of free-standing tables, and intimate two-tops along the window with breathtaking views of the bay. It's mostly tourists, and the awkward but well-meaning staff does its best to guarantee everyone has a good time.
The Food
New American food that's familiar and perfectly accessible. Smoky wood-oven roasted mussels are mounded in a flavorful tomato broth, but Dungeness crab and corn chowder tastes like gussied-up Campbell's. A simultaneously rich and bright lemon beurre blanc coats a roasted halibut fillet paired with undercooked, pencil-thin asparagus spears. Braised short ribs fall off the bone into tender shreds. Desserts sound great on paper, but both the berry cobbler and apple-sourdough bread pudding are cloyingly sweet.

My wife and I enjoyed a late lunch at Bistro Boudin. We were promptly greeted and seated at a table with a great view. The corn chowder and ceasar salad were fresh and flavorful. The bread is out of this world. Our server was polite and efficient. The mojitos were made with plenty of fresh mint and really took the edge off of a busy day. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Bistro Boudin is one of our favorite places in our favorite city.
Pros: View, Good Food, Outstanding Bread

I went to this restaurant over the weekend with my friends and girlfriend. The prices were too high for the quality of the food. When the chef came from the kitchen to greet a table next to ours and overheard my girlfriend complaint about the combination on her crabcakes. He went on the defensive by questioning her if she has much experience eating crabcakes...... THIS CHEF IS A MORRON! crappy service took the rest of the experience. Well that's what I get for eating on my Pier. I know better the next time.
Pros: Not much to recomend
Cons: Parking, Service, Value
