Great Food-Great Atmosphere. We really enjoyed our whole dining experience. The host was wonderful and made us feel very welcome and even recommended a new Italian wine that we all loved. (fabulous wine list) The restaurant has a great vibe and a fantastic menu. It seemed to be quite busy in this quaint space so I would consider making a reservation.
Classic Italian cuisine is given a Cal accent in bright Cow Hollow refuge..
The Scene
Two big windows flank the curtained vestibule, allowing glimpses of well-heeled foot traffic. Modern artwork lines lime-hued walls and white, amorphous-shaped lamps hang from the high ceiling, giving the room an airy ambience. The all-male waitstaff, many of whom speak Italian, dictate a leisurely paced meal.
The Food
An extensive menu is split into thirds, with house-made pastas and entrees outshining antipasti offerings. There's nothing wrong with artichoke hearts stuffed with goat cheese, but the baking process dries the dish, while the same filling oozes richly from a delicate "beggars purse": a wonton-like satchel also brimming with eggplant and tomato sauce, then tied shut with a spinach ribbon. Pan-fried sand dabs are a light entree, served atop sun-dried tomato risotto. For a rich, smoky treat, order the boneless, braised short ribs, then refresh your palette with gelato and sorbetto--each scoop comes cupped in a waffle saucer.
Great new restaurant on Union. We've been here twice since it opened 2 months ago and each time has been great! The first trip was a weeknight, so they were pretty slow. We were seated right away, had wonderful service and the food was amazing. Our second visit was on a Friday night. We called ahead to make reservations. we were seated 45 minutes later than our reservation, however they made it up to us with our free glass of champagne as well as dessert. The service here is wonderful...thoughtful and very knowledgable. I'd highly recommend the linguini with spicy crab sauce (delicious!) as well as the cheese plate. It's always an extra bonus with me when restaurants offer cheese plates.
Great Dinner.
Since our anniversary was on a weeknight, my wife and I decided to visit this new local restaurant. The food and service were excellent and our waiter recommended wines that were his personal favorites which complemented our meal perfectly. Our anniversary dinner was wonderful.
We will definitely go back and recently recommended it to our friends.
