In Short – Italian for "red herring," the name carries on the tradition of the location's former expense account dining hall. Its cadence of hearty plates of traditional fare (think rack of lamb, ahi tuna and fettuccini with large prawns) harmonize with an unexpected world beat, including pomegranate sauce, eggplant tapenade and pickled ginger. –
DON't EVER EAT HERE
by JennaGalaxy at Citysearch
I went it to visit a friend who worked at Faz, but she wasn't in that day. We decied to eat there anyway... BIG mistake. The owner of teh restaurant is sexist, the service is horrible, the food is bleow average, and they didn't have a single glass of wine we asked for. In short THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!
Some incompetent waiter named Raj or Raju or whatever served us, if that's what you can call it. He was sooooo slow, couldn't answer questiosn about the menu, and was just overall PATHETIC. Then there's the owner of this piece of awful place, Faz. My friends that worked there both told me he was a sexist pig and a terrible owner. Not a good sign when the owner of the restaraunt is a misogynist. What's more, I hear he's fired half a dozen managers in the last two years. Another sign a restaurant is a mess.
Long story short: DON'T GO TO FAZ!!!
- Cons: HORRIBLE dining experience

Boy was I glad that the meal was paid for by my office (end-of-year employee appreciation lunch)! The food was definitely overpriced; the portions are modest. my lamb kabob wasn't cooked evenly - some pieces were too underdone for my taste; other than the natural flavor of lamb itself, it was very bland. the vegetables that came with it - say 5 string beans and 5 julienned red peppers, tasted old with the primary seasoning being butter. I love the simplicity of steamed vegetables in butter - but I can make that anytime at home, and with fresh vegetables... Finally, I don't mean to be a ruthless critic, but honestly, even the rice was below par; it tasted old as if it was from yesterday, and the "spicy saffron" was more of a garnish if anything.
we were a party of 16, with reservation made 1 week in advance. they had about 2-3 other smaller tables being serviced. I'd say the service was excusable; I guess it's hard to remember to bring bread when there's so many of us. or the side dishes. or the wine.
It was a disappointing meal - and needless to say, will by my last meal there - and will advise friends and family of my experience if they were ever interested.
Amazing Food with an Amazing View

This was my first time at this Faz location but I've been a big fan of the food at the different Faz Restaurant for a long time. I really like this new location. The restaurant decor is really romantic, utilizing bold colors very elegantly. We sat in the backroom by the window overlooking the water and the bay bridge. They also have a patio which is where I'm going to suggest being seated next time (granted if its warm). Of course the food was excellent as always. I ordered my long time FAZ favorite, the Fettuccine Marco Polo, which are Fettuccine and a curry cream sauce. My husband ordered their Lamb Kabob with extra cucumber yogurt sauce. But I must say that if there is one thing that is unique about this Faz Restaurant location its their Lavender Cream Brule. It was amazing, and you have to try it if you never have.
- Pros: Good Food, View, Fireplace
Getting better!

I went to Faz in mid July of this year and was only somewhat impressed, but visited again last weekend and had a great time. Versus our first visit there, the service had improved, the restaurant was much more crowded (but in a good way, that provided a sense of atmosphere), the food was better, even the lighting scheme was better! We enjoyed the lamb and vegetable kabobs, and started with the mediterranean sampler, which was also good. The restaurant has great flat bread! I'm pleased that business at Faz seems to be picking up, maybe because the service has greatly improved over the last few months. Will definitely return for a cozy dinner!
- Pros: good menu selection, good atmosphere
- Cons: if you're parking in the area, it can be tough
Horrible Food!
by goldholly at Citysearch
we tried this place because we had a "2 for 1" coupon and still wasted our money! the duck had 75 percent fat and 25 percent duck, the rice and mashed potatoe side dishes were tasteless and the garlic spinach was good, all 3 bites of it! the "fresh brewed" iced tea tasted like rusty water and the waiter could not come up with exactly what kind of tea was used.
the prices would be understandable if the food was at least mediocre rather than barely edible; we WERE hungry and it was half price, so we didn't "return" the food, but we wouldn't return to FAZ if it were FREE!
- Pros: NONE!!
- Cons: HORRIBLE FOOD, EVEN ICED TEA! RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED FOR FOOD QUALITY
