Editorial Review for Americano Restaurant and Bar – by Daniel Liszt
The Scene
Visitors can relax in the lounge and sip signature cocktails while gazing at the Bay Bridge or head into the main dining space that's hugged by natural wood. Across from windows showcasing the precious Embarcadero surroundings is an expansive bar and exhibition kitchen crowned by a lamp shade collection. An army of waitstaff provides personable service, even if the kitchen doesn't have its timing down to a science.
The Draw
This place is a Pascal Rigo property and presents Italian cuisine with a Californian twist. Pastry-like pizzas are prepared with flaky pie crusts--from the dainty truffle-topped mushroom pie to the tongue-in-cheek "margarita" that's adorned with jalapenos. A half-dozen starters and entrees change seasonally; they may include a armesan-flavored, green-garlic soup or steak-like Sonoma duck breast. However, the desserts steal the show. The standout ice cream sandwich is large enough to share--three silky flavors presented side-by-side with fresh raspberry sauce and meringue-like.

I like this place quite a bit. It is a great place to relax after work. It gets a sometimes full crowd, but everyone is very nice and it is easy to feel comfortable here.
Pros: Nice place
Cons: None!

I put this review on YELP! So I figured I put it on Citysearch too. I have been going to Americano for over a year now on a regular basis. Usually with people from my office. I have to say I have had a lot of bad service. I understand it is because it is so busy all the time. I finally decided to write a review, not about bad service about good service. Everytime we get Hillary, as our waitress we are so well taken care of. Even if she can't get to us right away she lets us know she will be with us as soon as she can. I just wanted to say it is a nice change to being ignored or shunned by the rest of the service staff. So, thank you Hillary! If you go to Americano, try and find Hillary........you won't be dissapointed.
Pros: Hillary
Cons: Pricey
