I've been going to Katy for massage for nearly six years now. From the moment you walk in, she creates an atmosphere of rest, peace, and relaxation. She's very intuitive about both mind and body -- and she also does a lot of listening and checking in, to see what's needed on a particular day, or for a particular person. Some days I feel very chatty during massage; some days, I just want peaceful silence. Katy's good about figuring out what it is I need (even when I don't always know myself) -- both in terms of atmosphere and massage technique. I do a lot of weightlifting, which can make me tighten up uncomfortably. Katy is excellent at working out the inevitable knots. She's very strong (when the knots are bad) but is also gentle when they're tender. The evening hours are great....the last thing I feel like doing is rushing out of work like a bat out of hell in order to hurry up and relax. Being able to schedule later appointments also means that I can schedule the massage as the last thing I do in my day, and extend the relaxation into the night.
Pros: Relaxing atmosphere, responsiveness

In the seven years I've lived in the Bay Area I had never found a spa/massage therapist that I liked enough to return to. When I had my first massage with Jackie I immediately knew that this was the place, and have since also had great massages with Katie. If you're looking for a chi chi spa experience, you won't find it here, but you will find incredibly skilled, deeply personalized, and all around wonderful massages. Prices are very reasonable, and you will leave happy, I promise!
Pros: The best massage therapists in SF
Cons: Difficult to find parking in the neighborhood
