stunning – If you ever have read romance novels or have a slightly dark and moody side, come here, bring a book, sit in the bar area at a window table, watch the waves crashing on the rocks, sip read wine and travel far, far away.
Nice view, great brunch – I was visiting SF from Miami and passed by this landmark point, we decided to stop and eat at Sutro's. We did not have reservations so we were seated by the bar area, which has nice water views. The food and the service were great and not as pricey as a nice restaurant in Miami...People complain that a $9 drink is expensive in San Francisco, how about $18 for a cosmo in Miami...Food and drinks are so cheap in San Francisco not too mention tasty, I loved my visit and probably gained 5 pounds ...
People, You have Got to be kidding! – This is barely above diner-level for food. The mixed greens were served with a watery vinaigrette and slices of red onion that had been sitting in water. Very bizarre. Decent fries and tap selection, but maybe it was my fault for ordering seafood pasta, an act of faith in even a GOOD restaurant??? And can I have some very mediocre red wine with that, 'cause that's all they pour here?
Best Sunday Brunch in SF – I've been coming to the cliff house for Sunday Brunch for many years. I can say that I have missed it while it was being remodeled. The quality and quantity of food along with the bottomless glass of champagne is more than a good reason to try out this place after church on a Sunday.
Good for lunch – I went there with some of my friends and I really enjoye it.
The creme brulee is the best I had in this city.
Nice vue too.
Hear the decent menu and casual bar, but heed to the house specialty: stellar ocean views. – The Scene
The remodeled beachside favorite catches its finest rays during daylight. You'll wait for a table behind tourists and locals entertaining tourists, and if you can tear your eyes away from the wall of windows, you'll find a tasteful retro renovation of deco tile, soaring ceilings, and neat collages of vintage celebrity portraiture.
This is a guidebook attraction, so expect prices to follow suit. Few punches are pulled: Recognizable things to nibble and dip, such as crumb-crusted crab cakes and pork-stuffed potstickers, abound. Better choices are the main entrees. A classic cioppino of fresh fish and mollusks is flavored by lumps of onion, celery, and sweet red pepper. Fork-tender braised lamb shank is hearty, paired with heavy mashed potatoes and roasted summer vegetables. For dessert? Your palate is best served by a second helping of crashing waves.
