The Scene – An all-black exterior gives way to a sparsely decorated room surrounded by dark blue-and-gray walls. While waiting for tables to become available, dressed-down patrons rest frozen mugs of Blue Paddle and oversized champagne cocktails atop a blond-wood bar. Adding to the hubbub is a jukebox blasting vintage Madonna, Snoop and the Smiths. – – The Food – It's hard to find deep-dish in San Francisco, but this place nails it. There's also a twist: The young chef/co-owner uses a crunchy cornmeal crust and coats pans with butter, giving his creations sweetness.…
My favorite pizza place
by rrrmarie
This pizza place is pretty small, dimly lit, and cozy. The host told us that the wait was about 30 to 45 minutes. We didn't mind, because we had nothing else to do. The host let us pre-order while we wait for our seats. We finally sat at a table almost an hour later. The waitress was very pleasant. We ordered the 12 inch deep dish speciality classic pizza. The pizza came out pipping hot! It was soo good. When I first saw the pizza, I was like... euwh, it's full of tomatoes... where are the toppings? I was hungry, so, I took a slice and MAN>>> it was DELICIOUS! The pizza had the cheese as the bottom layer, the toppings as the next layer, and fresh tomatoes and sauce as the top layer. So, that's why I didn't see any toppings. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Our bill was about $23-$24 (including tax) for three people. I can't wait to go back!! The pizza was to die for and the service is great! What more can you ask for? yummy!!! OH, wait.. one thing... they only take CASH! NO credit cards.. but, that's not a problem. The food was worth the wait!!
Not Bad At All
by AdamRugel
Almost perfect. Tasty crust. Delicious extras like sausage and olives. Not too much cheese. Flavorful, chunky sauce. The only thing wrong is it doesn't quite measure up to the heart-stopping size of the pizza at my favorite, Lou Malnati's in Chicao
- Pros: Tasty
- Cons: Not quite Chicago
decent pizza, expensive
by adammetz
The pizza was decent and toppings were fresh. Wine was pretty well-chosen, and service was relatively quick. Decent indie tunes too, and good location.
- Pros: good thin crust
- Cons: expensive
