Little Star Pizza

Deep dish and thin crust pizza, happy hour, and a sensible jukebox.

  • Happy hour
  • $1 pbr's, $1 off all others
  • Take-Out Orders

Recent Review: I went here for the $1 PBR happy hour, stayed for the pizza and loved the jukebox. Truly, their deep dish pizza does rival Zachary's; thank goodness they're on opposite sides of the bay! I had a cheeseless pizza and was told by the owner that a vegan cheese substitute is in the works, and got a lot of personal attention from the staff. I also really enjoyed the sauce; it had a spicy tang to it that added a lot of character to the pizza! Everyone should check this new restaurant out!

Editorial Review for Little Star Pizza – by Daniel Liszt

The Scene
An all-black exterior gives way to a sparsely decorated room surrounded by dark blue-and-gray walls. While waiting for tables to become available, dressed-down patrons rest frozen mugs of Blue Paddle and oversized champagne cocktails atop a blond-wood bar. Adding to the hubbub is a jukebox blasting vintage Madonna, Snoop and the Smiths.

The Food
It's hard to find deep-dish in San Francisco, but this place nails it. There's also a twist: The young chef/co-owner uses a crunchy cornmeal crust and coats pans with butter, giving his creations sweetness. The signature Little Star is the crown jewel--stuffed with a smooth mix of spinach, ricotta, feta and mushrooms, then topped with a thick, zesty red sauce. Those longing for traditional crust should order a cracker-thin variety. Chunky green peppers dot the classic Italian combo, while creativity is found in the not-too-cheesy white pie (garlic, olive oil, mozzarella, zucchini, tomato and feta).

very good pizza but I prefer Amici's I am a native New yorker and Amici is the real deal. I never get sick of eating it

Pros: good pizza

Cons: too busy at times

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Though I have not been to any of the famous deep dish pizza capitals of the world, I would have to say Little Star is the best pizza that can be found in the city. It's dark windows and discreet sign make this place hard to discriminate from the shabby looking bars and dirty buildings on divisadero, but once inside, it is as if you stepped into a busy, chic restaraunt filled with trendy 20-somethings. Try the classic pizza, it made me realize the meaning of a pizza "pie"!

Pros: delicious deep dish

Cons: always crowded & cash only
