Editorial Review for Catalyst Cocktails – by Marcia Gagliardi
The Scene
This spiffy hideout includes a swanky bar with lit glass columns and a stunning art-deco ceiling sculpture, spacious dark-leather booths, a DJ setup, and a living room-style seating area with modern furnishings in the back. The lights are sexily dim, and the music can include live acts, a DJ and the bartender's choice of CDs. It gets busy with a thirsty post-work crowd from the Hall of Justice, and is more of a chill neighborhood hangout later in the evening.
The Draw
The bartenders are master mixologists, assembling everything from classics to original hand-squeezed concoctions. It's exactly the place to hit for a conversation over a quality cocktail, which can quickly turn into many since they're so delicious. There's also a late-lunch/dinner menu of classic American fare such as burgers, salads and roasted chicken.

You have to try some of the drinks on their menu. The Citrus Love and Blueberry Fizz are both delicious and fruity, without being too sweet. The fresh juices make all the difference here. I tried the rib appetizer and it left me wanting more, because it was so tender and falling off the bone. Next time I am getting the full dinner ribs. It is off the beaten path, on the fringe of most of the Soma bars but it is definitely worth coming to.
Pros: Elegant decor, great service
Cons: none

What does it say about a "bar" that it was the food that made your trip there memorable? Maybe it was the particular evening we dropped by after work.....very quiet..you could've thrown a bowling ball down the center of the place and wouldn't have touched a soul. The Jazz music was a bit on the loud side....dunno, wasn't overly impressed with this place.
Pros: at least we got our drink right away.
Cons: Does anyone know about this place yet? It was pretty vacant...even on a Friday night...
