Editorial Review for Myth Restaurant & Lounge CLOSED – by Daniel Liszt
The Scene
Exposed-brick perimeters and multi-patterned banquettes afford the space a chic NYC aesthetic; dance music drips from speakers camouflaged within thin wood ceiling beams. Myth recalls a certain 1999 optimism and welcomes a local, sophisticated set. The white and silver open-kitchen showcases an army of neatly dressed staff, who serves at a protracted European pace. There's also a partitioned lounge, complete with cocktails, couches and counter service.
The Food
Chef/partner Sean O'Brien succeeds with savory American and French-accented cuisine. The seafood timbale tastes sushi-grade, mixing salmon, Dungeness crab and rock shrimp with an avocado mousse. A warm sweetbread salad is balanced with bacon, shiitakes and grain mustard. For a crispy treat, share a razor-thin pizza sprinkled with pancetta, trumpet mushrooms, fennel and fontina. Light seafood dishes are offered in two sizes, like pillowy mushroom-dusted scallops (three or five pieces). Carnivores will revel in the grilled New York steak, prepared perfectly medium-rare and drizzled with Bearnaise sauce.

Insider Tips
What to DrinkA reasonably priced wine menu features European and Californian gems. Some selections are available as two-ounce samplers and half-bottles.
Where to SitFor parties of 20 or so, reserve the private dining room. One of its translucent walls looks onto the main dining room for a slightly voyeuristic appeal.
ParkingValet is offered for $10.

Found a blonde hair in my food (mine is black). Not expected from any restaurant, let alone a "high end" restaurant. Food wasn't good enough to justify us going back.

A beautiful restaurant, very nicely designed, and we've always liked the service. We have noticed a bit of a falling off on the food, however, particularly (during each of our last couple of visits), the hamburger, which used to be much better. Prices for food and wine are outstanding.
