What Our Expert Scouts Say

Campton Place

For a unique twist on a tasting menu, be sure to order the Spice Route menu here. The Indian flavors are out of this world. Very inventive, and a nice break from the usual high-end cuisine.

Amazing. One of the best meals I have had in San Francisco. This should be on the short list of top restaurants in the city. The Chef was just on the cover of Food & Wine magazine for being named one of the best 10 new chefs in America!

The food was perfect. The service was prompt, polite, and helpful. The chef came out to thank us for dining ther when we should have been thanking him for the amazing cuisine. They are very proud of their restaurant and it shows.

Nice as usual. This was my 5th time at Campton place (3rd time with chef Daniel). Best service in SF.

This superbly run hotel maintains a reputation of excellence.. The Scene
This refined, discreet hotel was a hit from the very beginning, popular for both its acclaimed restaurant and its supremely elegant rooms. It opened in 1983 after an $18-million renovation. And its reputation hits new highs with the addition of executive chef Daniel Humm, who introduced a new menu awash in Mediterranean influences.

The Details
The hotel has just 117 rooms and is never overrun with large tour groups. The lobby, lounges, snug guest rooms and large suites are exceptionally attractive and comfortable. A skillful mix of rich colors complements antique and contemporary furnishings, plush carpets and fresh flowers. Service is emphasized. You'll enjoy intelligent concierges, prompt room service and an efficient brigade of business and secretarial services. The hotel's eponymous restaurant serves French cuisine and stands up to the hotel's formidable reputation.

Expensive but worth every penny. Simply put. Best meal I've ever had. Not a single misstep. Outstanding wine list with appropriate recommendation from sommelier. Absolutely love the foam emphasis. Fish prepared to perfection. Can't wait for another chance to travel to SF.

I am not worthy. As I was eating here, I knew that it was too good for me, but I enjoyed it anyway.

The food was lovely, tasty, the presentation beautiful, the setting very elegant and yet comfortable and the service flawless.

This is definitely a special occasion place if you have some money to blow, and somebody who is worthy.

Unforgettable experience. I went for lunch on a Tuesday to take advantage of the DineAboutTown menu and check out the place. The service was flawless and the food was exceptional even though it was cheaper than the regular 3 course menu. This was a great value. On top of that, among the two breads they served there was an incredible olive bread. This is great to see a restaurant that seems consistent. I didn't feel that we were handled differently than if we had dinner. I would blindly go back for another occasion.

Michelin Starred Quality. Chef Daniel Humm's gift to San Francisco: Stellar! Three-Course menu @ $58, a true bargain with three selections from appetizers, entrees or desserts augmented with multi amuse-gueules courtesy of the chef featuring a spectacular lobster cappuccino ON THE HOUSE! Half way through the meal giddy with delight you'll truly savour each and every course and palate cleanser. Foie gras tasting flight alone a uniquely fabulous dish. Unimaginable. Unbelievable. Brilliant service. Spectacular dining experience.

Fantastic. The new Campton Place restaurant is probably one of the most thrilling culinary expierences I've had in a long time. Under the direction of executive chef Daniel Humm magic things are cooking in the kitchen of Campton. From the champagne to foie gras to perfectly cooked steak the clean tastes and crisp presentation are just spectacular.
