In Short – Chocolatier Michael Recchiuti's exciting blends thrill the tongue with unexpected combinations. Made from the highest-quality ingredients, his handmade chocolates are flavored with exotic elements such as tea essences, geranium oil, lavender and jasmine. Swirled Murano glass lamps cast a candy-colored light over the elegant shop, with a "learning wall" listing various items' ingredients. Jars on the low counter contain homemade marshmallows. –
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- While Recchiuti truffles are available online and at select retailers, there are several items that are only sold in the Ferry Building shop.

- The store stocks seasonal treats, such as hand-painted Easter eggs, passion fruit caramels and even Christmas-themed chocolates.
UNPROFESSIONAL!

This review is not so much about their chocolate but more about the extreme lack of professionalism of this company. I originally applied for a management position but was told that I would be more qualified for an assistant manager position instead and to stop by and talk to the manager. So I submitted an application and stopped by to talk to the manager Susan. She gave me 2 samples which were pretty good, but nothing special and definitely overpriced. She then said that the actual interview of the location would be at their office on 3rd and 23rd Street and to take the T Muni line there. I left my house and hour before the interview to take the bus not knowing there was a baseball game that day and not being expected to be delayed over 1/2 hour just sitting there on the bus. I would have taken a taxi to be on time but I was in such an unfamiliar area with no one in sight so I figured it would be safer to stay on the bus. I finally arrived there late and so did Susan. The office location is in such a scary desolate area with no one except an occasional homeless person ever few blocks. When I finally entered the building I had to go up 2 flights of stairs because I could not find the elevator and I think I saw what looked to be like sweat shops in some of the rooms in that building. I definitely got a scary and uncomfortable all over the area. Anyway I finally got there and was interviewed by Susan and one of the owners Jacky. Susan also gave me a tour of the factory after wards and then showed me out of the building. They said they would let me know what they decide after a few days. I had such a headache and it was so hot that day. I was relieved to get back on the bus and back to downtown San Francisco, where I could see humans again. I felt like I was in a Twilight Zone episode. The next day I got an e-mail that said after careful consideration I was not the right fit for Recchiuti Confections. I wondered why so I e-mailed her back and I got no response. I e-mailed her a few days later and still no response. Weird...considering we have been exchanging a lot of e-mails for over a week. So I e-mailed her back again and I finally got a response saying I was not the right fit again with no explanation. I e-mailed her one more time to find out specifically why not and she replied that she can't tell me why and thanks again. Looking back I'm glad I did not get this job and I don't think I would have accepted it if it was offered to me because it was so strange and extremely unprofessional for a place known for gourmet chocolates. If I was ever tempted to buy their chocolates before, I completely lost interest now. VERY FISHY COMPANY.
Indulge in the Best Chocolate of the Bay

One of my favorite outings is strolling through the Ferry Building and enjoying the little treasures that each business offers, however, the one place that makes me stop dead in my tracks, the place I anticipate the most, is Recchiuti Confections.
Each chocolate is elegantly designed as a special chocolate delicacy waiting to melt away in your mouth.
These chocolates make for gorgeous and original gifts for yourself or for someone special.
- Pros: Special for as a gift for yourself or someone esle
- Cons: Want it all the time!
Ahh, the joys of youth!

I surprised my 3 yr old nephew with their smores kit after he just found out that he isn't allergic to chocolate. This is for easter, btw, where we followed it with a great big easter egg hunt, Recchiuti style, which left him completely happy and buzzing with sugar!
His mother sent me a photo of him from her phone and he had this fuzzy-eyed, happy look on his face.
Ahh, the joys of youth! Enjoy it while it lasts, eh?
