Citysearch Editorial Review. The reborn 222 Hyde is a dance club, bar and surprisingly good place to eat, all wrapped up in one narrow, two-level space in the Tenderloin. The crowd is that classically San Francisco combination of club kids and 30-somethings looking to get a little sweaty. And they can too, thanks to the nightly DJs spinning everything from house to disco on a sound system that described as a "DJ’s wet dream." If you can't live on drink alone, the revamped menu features cheese and salumi plates as well as several house-made pizzas including the 222, topped with poached pears, blue cheese, walnuts, and lemon thyme oil. Friendly bartenders, surrealist paintings by local artists, and a dive-bar mentality in a place that serves Hangar One make 222 Hyde a place where people who come hoping to have a good time often succeed.

Great hidden gem. Went to 222 the other night for the first time and absolutely loved it. It looks small from the outside, but the places is pretty big with a whole dowstairs/ dancefloor. They have great drinks and food for good prices. The staff is great as well. You will be seeing me there again

Swank, brick-and-beam speakeasy with luscious cocktails on a low-lit street.. In Short
A smoldering blend of historic and cutting-edge ambience fills this tiny Tenderloin space, part of the legendary Blackhawk jazz club in the '50s and '60s. Upstairs at the well-stocked bar, high brick walls and visible steel girding are offset by rotating local art, lots of candles and sultry, red lighting. Downstairs, a cushy basement lounge features live music and DJ parties. Chalkboards proclaim drink specials and small eats such as fresh gourmet pizzas, cheeses and antipasti.

Great Pizza. This place is very comfortable. No feeling of a secret soceity in which you need to be a certain way to fit in. Its a place where family and friends can make it a night. Bartenders will be Bartenders but the overall vibe is cool.

Good vibe and eats in the tenderloin. You would miss the location if you drove by. Once inside its a whole other world. Great art, Positive people, Pizza is good, I've always been a fan of the place but it was topped off when the full bar was finally introduced.
