Room for Improvement.
In July, 2005, my spouse and I drove in from Oregon for a family gathering at the Marin Inn. Subsequently, our dinner party took place on the patio next to the pool. It was not particularly ADA accessible. The seating was poolside furniture and not really up to my massive frame so I was concerned that it might collapse and put me into the pool. The service was entertaining but my water glass stood empty most of the time we were there. Facilities again were difficult to find and use with a 38 pound wide body walker.
The menu was miniscule in content. If they were putting their best foot forward I would give them a horseshoe crab as opposed to a centipede. The discriptions were misleading, especially considering critical allergies and kosher/sharia dining. Ingredients that might cause problems had to be asked about. In my case the offenders are corn, corn syrup, corn starch, corn bran, corn meal, corn flour, malto-dexterin, sea salt and shell fish; just saying corn and shellfish does not always get the others into the thought processes of wait staff. Succotash even misses the list sometimes.
The firsts were ubiquitous salad features that one could buy at the market in a bag and feed six well for $2.50. .Since all the dressings had some form of corn product in them I used lemonjuice and oil. The entree's were something else, definitely arcane. My spouse had a tasty pente alfredo like dish with lots of fresh herbs, it was hot and delightful. She eats little, so I got to finish her plate; after my "entre," I was hungry. I ordered a barn door steak. What I got was more like an appetizer teaser as opposed to a barn door size steak. It consisted of about two mouth fulls of slivered steak, sauteed in oil arranged over four sections of red potato and two asparagas spears sauteed in olive oil and herbs. It looked like a beautiful piece of origami art on the plate, but had little impact on ones appetite.
I will return soon. I hope for improvement.
Great Venue for a Party.
I recently was in charge of planning our annual Holiday Office Luncheon. I chose Ricky's due to their location, willingness to work with our budget and the look of their "ballroom".
John Marshall was very professional and courteous. He worked with us from day one to plan our meal and our party. When we arrived to set up the room with our table decorations, we found the room to be already decorated and ready to go! The room was tastefully decorated for the holidays. We did not even need any of the centerpieces we had brought!
The food prepared for the party was excellent. We had the chicken with wild mushroom sauce and the Salmon with a caper cream sauce that were cooked perfectly and very tasty. My coworkers are still raving about the food!
The service was also excellent. The staff was very prompt in filling all our drinks and clearing plates.
I would highly recommend this place to hold your next event. They really go the extra mile for you. Thank you Ricky's for making me look good!!
New Chef- Good Food-Attentive Service.
I live in the neighborhood, and this place has gotten some bad reviews.
Easy Check list- Have Jen(cute blonde) wait on you. The service is great. She makes dining into a memory. The new chef is fantastic. Had the steak with mashed potatoes and braised baby carrots... YUM! This place has had its share of chefs- but this one is a keeper. The portions are generous and everything we had was well executed
Nothing Apecial Here. Dined here about 2 nights ago and from the looks of the place I thought it was gonna be great. Very romantic restaurant with fine wood furnishings, but then the food came. I had the Grilled Salmon, which was dry and flaky with hardly no flavor at all and my companion had the Kobe Beef Stew. Kobe Beef? You can hardly tell what it was. It looked like chunks of Hamburger meat floating around in gravy. Come here for drinks, but not the food.
LOVE THE NEW CHEF & MENU!!!. FINALLLLY, this marvelous gem is a destination place again what with the new chef and fantastic new menu!!! This dining room is very much like something you'd find in Tahoe....verrry cozy, warm and inviting and now the food matches!!! Cannot wait to dine here again.....which will be real soon!!!
Great Local Place!. Wow! What a change in menu and service. The new chef has done wonders with the food. It's a completely different menu. The food choices are plentiful and the food is delicious. The service was friendly, yet professional. You cannot beat the warm and cozy atmosphere. A place where you can actually hear your dining companions from across the table. If you haven't been there in awhile, go back! You'll be in for a nice surprise.
