The Scene
All of San Francisco comes to Ocean Beach, and many of them end up in this glass box behind the historic Beach Chalet. Kids scribble with crayons by tables of barely 21s developing their beer palates, while dates canoodle at the bar. Ceiling-high windows open onto flowerbeds; concrete floors magnify the conversational volume. More peaceful dining can be found around the fireplace.
The Food
Pair a malty glass of California Kind ale with thin, barely battered onion rings, or dig into French onion soup, customized with a cheesy slab of fresh beer bread. Meaty crabcakes come with a delicious chipotle aioli. While tasty, the pizza's cracker-like crust makes it more snack than meal. The smoked salmon club is near-perfect, with excellent sourdough bread, transparent lox, crisp bacon and lots of avocado. For dessert, try the exceptional molten chocolate cake.

You can either eat outside or inside - the best thing about this restaurant is children are welcome - on Saturday and Sunday afternoons the place is running over with children - my cousin and I have taken our Grandkids and the experience was Great - the kids had a great time - The prices are a bit high but the food is worth it - the staff is friendly and helpful - try the chocolate sand castle -

I had such a wonderful lunch here recently. The beers are very good, especially since it is such a touristy place to eat. The food is delicious and they give out nice portions for the quality. It was a very good find, though parking was difficult.

It's kinda fancy and is totally a tourist trap, but the view is excellent - specially if you're sick of the Cliff House. The price are steep, but with live music, good California pseudo fusion cuisine, and the view, it's a great cheesy date place.

When to Go:
Live bands play inside the restaurant on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons.
Parking:
If the lot is full, spots can often be found on the road leading into the park---but don't stay too late, as parking is prohibited after 10pm.
Where to Sit:
To be served at those old-fashioned wooden armchairs on the lawns, order food or drinks at the bar and take a number so the waitstaff can find you.
