Fabulous food, great service. Loved everything on my plate. Not sure the sangria was "live." I need their flaxseed cracker recipe. Asked for more and the cashew cheese was wonderful. Great service, nice atmosphere, relaxing.
Great Food, Great Ambiance.
I live 6 blocks from this place and tried it for the first time last weekend. We Loved it! Both me and my husband are meat eaters and still thoroughly enjoyed the fare. When finished you were full, but not that gross overstuffed full. It was such a wonderful meal. Our server was really helpful and attentive. She explained all the details about the food. I had the enchilada special which was killer. I also had the chocolate pie. HMMMM I cant wait to go back.
6 of us ate for 200$. This included 2 appetizers, 6 main courses, 4 desserts, 9 beers, a coffee, and lemonade.
delicious; toddler friendly. even a carnivore would be happy here. the food is flavorful and creative and yummy. my daughter loved the food and the atmosphere and everyone was so very friendly and nice (sometimes that's a difficult combination to find in a san francisco restaurant -- toddlerfriendly people and toddlerfriendlyfood)
I am grateful to share my dining experience.... I found this place not only delicious but a really cool experience. You sit at long tables with other patrons. I ordered the sample plate, my husband the enchiladas. Both were exceptional. It's a good place to go on your birthday. All the menu items are titled with self-affirmations and the wait staff comes out dancing and singing to "Birthday" by The Beatles. The sundae with nutmilk ice cream was yummy and the Elixer we tried was also very good. Don't go there if you have a nut allergy since pretty much everythings made with nuts.
User review by candida37. PLUSES: healthy, flavorful, interesting food and filling! Had stuffed mushroom appetizers, pesto pizza, and mousse for dessert. We also got tasty enchiladas (yumm). MINUSES: Bland green salad, icey thin ice cream. The other thing that I would recommend is not going for all three courses there-- though each course was delicious, because it's vegan & microbiotic, it means the only protein source they can use are nuts (no beans no boiling). So EVERYTHING has a LOT of nuts in it! Felt ODed by the end. SERVICE: slow, rude (told us TWICE that if our 2 other friends didn't show up in 10 minutes they would seat other people at our table-- and the restaurant was only 1/2 full!), made mistakes on our order twice, and our bill. Oh well, at least they were friendly.
Painstakingly handmade and quirky raw vegan cuisine is served in an ultracasual, cozy cafe setting..
Hidden on an out-of-the-way Mission corner, the look is standard upscale coffee shop, with wood floors, pillowed bench seating, and bare painted walls. The only eyebrow-raiser is the café's own board game, Abundant River, colorfully splayed on every table. Clientele proudly sport chin stubble and a clean, but rumpled vegan chic.
Rising above the challenge of vegan cooking and blending an almost-all raw menu, the food is a bargain, beautifully prepared, and satisfying enough to turn any carnivore herbivore for an evening. Highlights include a garlicky buckwheat-crusted nut cheese pizza, and flavor-packed pates like teriyaki carrot-almond, walnut-sunflower seed, and the "mock tuna" almond, celery, sea vegetable, and lemon. Chocolate pudding is robust and dense, and the hand-cranked frozen nut creams were fun to churn, but tasted thin, icy, and bitter. Servers are attentive but scattered, and the everything-from-scratch menu means the kitchen can sometimes undersupply.
Fabulous!. I have been going to Cafe Gratitude once a week for the past three months. I am not a vegitarian but let me tell you... heaven! Everything I have tried has made my tastebuds come alive. I was a little hesitant to go at first because I thought it may be a little too crunchy for me. Not the case. It is clean, nice atmosphere and friendly patrons. It is a place that everyone should experience at least once. It gives you inspiration that veggies can taste great. It really has changed my diet. When you go for the first time, I recommend you get the orange shake, the sampler plate and cheesecake.... Everyone I have brought has raved about it for days.
