Pleasant surprise! Best Indian food I've had in SF so far!. I happened upon this place just by chance. I had been working late and was looking for a place open late and came across Spicy Bite's listing on Citysearch. I thought it was neat that I could place my order online. I figured it was probably good enough to try. I placed a take-out order for Chicken Tikka Masala and the Bread Basket which consists of Naan, Garlic Naan, and Onion Naan. When I got to the place, it's a dingy hole in the wall. I was thinking to myself, "Uh-oh". I brought the food back to my hotel and shared it with my cousin who was visiting and with the first bite we were both like, "Whoa!" If you read my other reviews you'll see that I am EXTREMELY picky about the Indian food I'll eat. This was by far one of the BEST (if not THE best) Chicken Tikka Masala renditions I have ever had. The Naan was mediocre compared to what I've had in the past, but it was good. Last night I ordered the Mixed grill and it was HUGE, but so delicious I finished the whole thing by myself. Conclusion: GREAT FIND!!! I'll be recommending this place to everyone.
Good food, crappy delivery. The food is fine, no complaints there. The problem is service. They take an hour or more. Once they told me an hour and it ended up being 90 min I might as well have eaten out. Last night I ordered and after 20 min they called and said their driver was new ad didn't know my address and we "should come pick it up". I said NO, that is not ok, and they set the phone down and argued for so long I had to come up. They called back eventually and said "ok, we'll deliver", but my God. I live on Clayton Street. Its not hard to find. I think last night was my last time ordering form here.
Best Chicken Tikka Masala Ever, Very Nice Delivery People. Best Chicken Tikka Masala this side of the Pacific! No joke guys, I've tried them all in SF (except Pakwan) and this one beats them all by a long shot. Do it, eat the CTM!
Just okay. This place wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to write home to mom about either. It was just okay. I would eat there again if I were in the neighborhood, but not make any special trips to go there.
Don't Expect Delivery. The online ordering was very easy, until I was told they don't deliver to my house, although it is only a 1 1/2 miles away. Perhaps they should stick to takeout if they don't want to drive in San Francisco.
Best food in town. I have tried Indian food in other different restaurants. But spicy Bite excels. I love their food especially chicken tikka masala. You can actually taste the freshness and quality of their food. It's great to have spicy bite in the bernal neighborhood.
Don't waste your time. After reading the first review, we were looking forward to eating here. The menu is extensive and the attraction was the "Indian Chinese" portion of the menu. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre including the hyped "hot and sour soup" and traditional Indian dishes that we tried. There are much better Indian food restaurants in the city. I would not eat here again.
Editorial Review. Classic Indian cuisine including curry and Tandoori dishes range from mild to extra hot. Online ordering and delivery are available.
hidden treasure.
I love coming to Spicy Bite, the service is great, food is excellent.
Prices are resonable, great ambiance, food is delicious.
yummiiiiiiiiii
Excellent food, whacked out decor..
If you could ignore tha whacked out decor for a minute, you are in for a treat.
Restaurant uses FRESH vegetable in their dishes, and they have a distinctive taste to them. This restaurant also features excellent beef nihari kabobs and has intruiging Indian-Chinese section in their menu (chinese food favorites as rendered in india, much different than their american or chinese counterparts). I would recommend getting chicken hot'n'sour soup, a very different concoction than you get anywhere else, also their chili chicken is delicious.
For appatizers we always order chana bhatura, its bit heavy but very tasty.
Price could be little cheaper for what it is.
